My son wants to post a message about space
He wants to warn everybody that Black Holes are very dangerous and that they can suck you down into the black hole very quickly and that you can die.

And where are the black holes? Well, they're everywhere. But not in our solar system.

We are safe.

9. I am almost 40 and I am still fascinated by black holes
If I'd had the mind for math I'd have become a physicist, I love all that stuff, the concepts are fascinating but I can't do the calculations so I'll always be on the sidelines going "wow".

12. He saw a science program about black holes on TV last week
And he's been fascinated ever since. It was very good, including some experiments using large pop bottles.

I can't figure the mathy stuff out but I love thinking of the bigness and smallness. I used to listen to Steven Hawking sometimes, he has a way of telling that stuff that makes it so easy to think of, even for me :o

13. That is so cute.
The STBE is a physicist and we spent many a dinnertime discussing black holes with the kids. The concept really seems to capture their imagination & no wonder. Hi to your son! :hi:

26. OMG, "Battle Baeyond the Stars!"
Edited on Wed Sep-19-07 07:43 PM by Nevernose
I'm STILL pissed about that. My uncle kept promising to take my cousin and me to see Star Trek the Motion Picture, and when the big day came, we got: BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS.

I was six or seven, tops, and even then I knew what a remarkably bad movie it was, and have never felt so cheated in all my life. That rat bastard thought we wouldn't know the difference...

I think MST3K even did a parody of it. And it's kind of frightening to think how many MST3K movies I actually saw in theaters as first-runs...

Much more likely we get smacked by one of these than a wandering black hole.

36. Black holes are safe. Wormholes, OTOH, are NOT.
I drove through a wormhole once- although there are no witnesses, I do have what I consider empirical proof- I was driving to a late afternoon class along a route I'd been taking daily for several months. At one point I stopped at a red light. I distinctly recall looking to my left and seeing a cop car in the turn lane. I then looked at my watch to check my schedule. A moment later I looked up and was driving PAST the school- I had been ten minutes away from it when I looked at my watch. I was so startled I looked at my watch again- there was NO ten minute time difference. I had gone that distance in zero time, with absolutely no sensation of a transition.

It's the only theory I can find that explains it.

NOTE: I was NOT drunk, high, or on pain pills, and it was still light out.

You can call me loopy if you wish, but it happened.
