What's with Torchwood's gratuitous, suggestive scenes? |
|
Wow. I've never seen firing range instruction quite like I've seen it just now.
Last week the show featured an alien presence that makes you extra horny.
Everyone is getting laid in Cardiff, apparently.

2. I've yet to see the 2nd episode (the orgasm devouring monster), but |
|
the show's creator claims Torchwood is a more mature series, for adults.
When I first heard that, I thought "Cool. Something that requires functioning brain cells." Oops. It looks like a functioning libido is mandatory, as the show's creator needs his own sister show ("Torchwood Confidential"?) to explain what the actual episode was about. Good television doesn't need a followup show explaining what it's about. If the 2nd episode is about the influence of sex, there are rather better ways to show how society is being influenced than a monster that gets off on peoples' orgasms, good grief... )
If it wasn't for the gratuitousness, I'd say it's a show for toddlers.
Mind you, with Freema Agyeman being a cast member for series 2, maybe the show will improve. She and her character, Martha Jones, made DOCTOR WHO worthwhile again...

3. You weren't a fan of Rose, I guess? |
|
Freema's good, and I feel bad for the Doctor's always dissing Martha. I never understood why The Doctor fell in love with Rose. She was blond and had this snarky, alpha girl personality at times.
The sexuality in the second episode seemed more appropriate because, well, that was the alien... but wait until you watch the third episode. You'll think Captain Jack is a nympho.

4. Hey, nothing wrong with a little gratuitous sex now and then. |
|
And it's not like you could expect otherwise in a department headed by Captain Jack Harkness. :)

6. Is that character supposed to be a nymphomaniac? |

9. No, just very open to sexuality of any sort. |
