1. Here's an extra special hug. |

But I won't shoot you. I can't take Tylenol pills - Goody and BC powders and Aleve are the only things that work for me.

Because it is known to help. Took (another) prescription migraine pill.
I would love to go to bed with a nice compress on my eyeballs but I have two classes today. Monday I had 3, from 12:30 until 10pm. Yesterday, only one.
It's loads of fun to study law when your head feels like its going to explode. :nuke:

9. Paralegal - I wish I was in law school! |
|
California has a requirement that paralegals complete a pretty comprehensive program - I enjoy it so much. It makes me wish I'd done this 20 years ago and gone to law school. I didn't mean to imply I was, though - it's just quicker to write than "paralegal." :P

4. I am very, very sorry. |

I only recently figured out what two of my triggers are, and now I've had to give up some of my favorite foods as a result. It's worth it to get fewer migraine headaches.
I hope you know what all of your triggers are, and I hope you get some relief soon.

8. I'm aware of some of my triggers |
|
And two of them came into play this week. A major change in air pressure - it was cool, wet and rainy over the weekend and warmed up suddenly.
And a change in schedule because I started school Monday. Which made the migraine that much more fun. :P
Thanks, Thom - sorry to hear you get them, too. Some of us are just blessed, aren't we?

Sometimes, I have my husband just squeeeeeeeeze my head really hard. Sounds weird but it offers a small amount of relief.

I've had the migraine so long now that I have tension everywhere and it either helps a bit or takes my mind off it. I'm not sure which.
Yeah, they suck. I wish they weren't classified as headaches because people who don't get them just don't understand - I couldn't count the number of times I've heard people say, "Oh, I get headaches, too..." Or the people who say they have migraines but they just mean a bad headache. Not the same at all.
What I'd really like to do is throw up and go to sleep. In that order. :(

15. Ahhh, but this is a migraine |
|
Very different from tension headaches.
I've tried all the standard OTC methods, most of which contain caffeine as the "secret ingredient." Caffeine is known to help some migraines but it doesn't really help mine.
So I started trying various prescription migraine meds - I've tried Imitrex, Zomig, several others whose names I've now forgotten. Some worked better than others - right now I'm on Frova which works about as well as anything I've taken (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't).
The hassle with virtually all prescription migraine meds is that they have a lot of unpleasant side effects - they make you light-headed and spacey which is uncomfortable but not as bad as the migraine was.
Every now and then, nothing works and I'm so sick that I have to go to the ER and get a shot of heavy-duty pain medication along with an anti-nausea drug. It almost immediately loops me out and I sleep for up to 14 hours but it generally knocks out the migraine.
Migraine's a bitch. x(

16. Imitrex 50 mg works for me. |
|
I've heard for those with more frequent migraines (luckily mine, though they come with nausea/vomitting and are terrible, are only every 1-3 months), the Imitrex injections or Topamax can work well for. I'm so sorry.

17. When I lived in Vermont, I sometimes had 3 or more a week |
|
Depending on the weather. I'm very sensitive to air pressure changes and that along with the stress I was under at the time made it unbearable.
Here in California, I get them less frequently - maybe 5 or 6 a year. Easier to deal with but still very unpleasant. Thanks.
