I think real hard for the first 20-30 minutes after I wake up. That leaves 23.5 hours unable to read or take in such wonderful concepts.
I do read them about every night, but I'm already toast. Some are easier for my mind to grab hold of, some.. not so much.

I would say...these things:
One thread per day.
And I would kick it fewer times...
I don't know why, and it pains me to say this....but seeing you kick it over and over just really bugs me.
I think you're working too hard at it.
Relax. Let it find its level.
You might ask Retro for ideas...
I know I feel guilty for not reading/looking/commenting...
And then I stay away completely.
It's possible that I'm overintellectualizing this...or overanalyzing it...I dunno...
But if I were doing these threads, that's what I'd do...
I'm sorry, sweetie...

3. I've tried to reduce the number of "bonus" threads. |
|
But I like them, and they kinda have a purpose.
And I know this poll makes me look desperate, but the truth is, I've relaxed a lot about whether or not people read them. It's just that I would like to have more readers. For God's sake, though, C-Peg, don't feel guilty for not reading them or staying away from them! I appreciate your support and your insights, but if you don't feel like reading them or have started to dislike them, don't read them. I realize they're not and are never going to be everyone's cup of tea.

7. I was thinking of calling each one "The BlueIris Semi-Naughty Poem Thread" |
|
to see if I get more responses.

9. Just hide the threads if they bug you. |
|
It's alright to do that, you know.

11. I speak from experience |
|
When we had to write poetry in my 10th grade english class I wrote poems about monkeys. The teacher thought I was being all deep and symbolic and so I got straight As.
Of course, I was actually doing that because I knew that teacher liked to look for more depth than was actually there in all the literature we'd studied so far, and I was curious to see if she'd do that with the things I wrote too. She did. :)
But yeah, I firmly believe that just about anything can be improved by adding monkeys. Even peanut butter. Why do you think the idea for rhesus peanut butter cups came from? :)

How about a thread title tweak:
The BlueIris semi-nightly Poetry Break
or
A BlueIris Poetry Break
or something along those lines.
I go to the lounge to take time out from the horrors of the daily news. Mostly looking for levity and the not so serious. To my surprise, I love the poem threads. Reading a good poem is restorative and a welcome break.
So Thanks!

And I'm not quite that desperate yet.

13. BI, I don't know whether you've had a chance to read OMC's most recent thread. |
|
In it, he said that he really hasn't had time to be around much but:
I read the poem thread and some others and continue to be touched by them. I wanted to give an additional thanks for those.
I thought that you needed to be certain to see this.

Perseid posts poems here, too. Yeesh. I still feel so terrible for his family. ...egh. And now I feel motivated to stop complaining about my problems for now!

16. Post some Charles Bukowski |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-14-07 06:57 PM by Droopy
Controversial, candid, and someone I think a lot of people here in the lounge could relate to- especially those who are PUI.

17. Please keep posting the poetry threads |
|
It's a sad fact of life that not many people read poetry, but fortunately for people like me, poets keep being born who have an unbridled desire to write. And editors keep being born who love poetry.
I usually only post in your poetry threads on the weekends now because I have a new position at work and I'm very busy during the week so I don't get much DU time then. But you will definitely see me when I see you.

19. Heh. Thanks. I'm not ready to throw in the towell yet, |
|
but I am looking for feedback WRT how to appeal to more readers. "Tone it down"/"Start a journal" seem to be the most popular suggestions, but your suggestion to post poems that are most popular with Lounge poetry fans is also good.
