it turned out to be salt! I didn't realize it was salt until I took the first sip.

2. The Lady Who Put Salt in Her Coffee
Edited on Tue Oct-16-07 12:02 PM by skygazer
The first chapter of the absolutely delightful Peterkin Papers, a book my dad introduced me to when I was a kid. About a family named Peterkin, set in the late 1800's, early 1900's and their misadventures. They were all terribly stupid, you see, all of them. Mr. Peterkin, Mrs. Peterkin, Agamemnon, Solomon John, Elizabeth Eliza and the little boys, who always seemed to wear their india rubber boots.

They were constantly getting in scrapes and they'd have to go for advice to the lady from Philadelphia (who had no name but was always referred to that way) who would gently set them right.

Very cute. (The lady from Philadelphia suggested making another cup of coffee, by the way. :) )

edited to add - I didn't mean to imply that you were stupid! I just re-read this after hitting "post" and realized how it sounded.
