Why do DUers disable their profile? Is it just me or are they typically *concern* types?

1. I have wondered about that before, too. I hope we get an answer. |

2. people disable profiles for a variety of reasons |
|
maybe they just don't want to have people know that information
maybe they are someone who has been burned online
maybe they are very private
maybe any number of reasons
not necessarily "concern" types if I get your drift...

3. For a long time I had a disabled profile. |
|
I kept my disabled because I didn't care to be (and still don't much care to be) pidgeonholed; ruled as ineligible for some discussions because of gender, or location, or sexual orientation, or whatever reason du jour folks on DU tend to decide that one is not entitled to pain, an opinion, or an educated discussion.
After posting here for years, and spending some time being a frequent and popular poster, much of that information became common knowledge and disabling the profile became moot.
