12. How did the bullet song go?
Oh my Barney, oh my Barney
Had a jail and could not lock it
Had one bullet for his pistol
And he kept it in his pocket

Something like that.

4. One of low points in American culture
The Andy Griffith Show was amazing because it took place in the only town in North Carolina that had no Black people.

The low point in American Culture came when Don Knotts became a regular on Three's Company. That low point was matched when the BeeGees redid the album Sgt. Pepper.

5. Not surprisingly, many TV shows of that time took place in town
with no black people.

Andy Griffith has been a life-long Democrat and still is today.

8. Not as low as "Gomer Pyle, USMC" never once mentioning VIETNAM.
I think I saw a black person on the street in the background
on "Andy Griffith" once.

10. That's not true, I recall seeing some black residents...I think there
was one guy who was in Floyd's band.

11. There were black extras now and again.
I always thought it was funny that they tended to be dressed a little more formally than the white characters and extras. For instance, Opie would have a party and all the white kids would be dressed neat/casual but the black kid would be wearing a sportcoat and tie.

6. One of the best TV characters ever.
What's it been 40 years and if you refer to a police officer as a "Barney Fife", people still know what you are talking about.

13. I feel like every time someone asks an 'either-or' question I always answer with either
'your mother' or 'why not both?'

In this case the second one fits better. (but not by much. :P )

15. There once was a deputy named Fife
Who had a gun and a knife
The knife was all rusty
The gun was all dusty
Cause he never caught a crook in his life!

16. "It's ME! It's ME! It's Ernest T!"
No one on that show was better than Howard Morris AKA Ernest T. Bass

If a duck stood still you could catch him by the bill.

I don't chew my cabbage twice. And you ain't heard the last of Ernest T. Bass!

I'm a little mean, but I make up for it by bein' real healthy.

If I'd seen you coming, I'd have known what to do. I'd have rais'd both arms and woved at you!

She called me a "creasture"—I ain't no "creasture"!!!

Awright, listen... (He accompanies himself by slapping a large can.)
Old Aunt Mariah, jump in the fi-ah,
Fire too hot, jump in the pot,
Pot too black, jump in the crack,
Crack too high, jump in the sky,
Sky too blue, jump in canoe,
Canoe too shallow, jump in the tallow,
Tallow too soft, jump in the loft,
Loft too rotten, jump in the cotton,
Cotton so white she stay there all night.
