George Lucas Is Planning A Star Wars TV Series
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 03:15 PM by Yavin4
Filmmaker George Lucas said Tuesday that he has "just begun work" on a live-action television series rooted in the "Star Wars" universe, which is huge news not just for fans of the science-fiction epic but also for networks looking for a piece of the Lucas magic that has grossed $4.3 billion in theaters worldwide.

Hmmmm....let me guess, Jar Jar Binks plays the whacky neighbor with the catch phrase, "Me so clumsy" and "Oh that Jar Jar!". The hilarity never ends!

Thank you George Lucas for completely ruining my Star Wars memories.

3. I hope it has all the quality of the Star Wars Holiday Special.
I think Lucas has a scat fetish, because he sure loves to shit all over his creation.

4. I'm sure Lucaas will ruin it by aiming for the 7-11 y.o. demo
As long as the series inspires a full line of toys, Lucas will feel like he made a good show. What a goober.

7. Don't Fool Yourself, Lucas Can Multi-Task
Spielberg edited Jurassic Park through an online connection while filming Schindler's List, or was it vice versa?

22. Lol, that was great!
But I've met George a bunch of times, and he's nowhere near that friendly or chatty.

Still, Oswalt's simple reduction of why the prequels sucked so terribly was dead on!

27. When you watch the making of "Star Wars", you can hear the actors complain that he does not talk

His standard line as a director is "Faster and more intense."

He lost his voice during the filming and nobody noticed it for several days.

28. I can believe that
I've never been able to squeeze more than one full sentence at a time out of the guy. People I know who work with him don't hear a whole lot more. Most of his film "direction" seems to happen in the editing booth.

It's odd the way some films seem to get made DESPITE the people making them!

15. I think it actually sounds like an interesting project.
Supposedly, it'll take place in the 19 years that takes place between Episode III and Episode IV, regarding the growing dominance of the Empire and the founding and spreading of the Rebellion. Sounds like my kind of series...

Oh, that Jar Jar!

*insert canned laughter and applause here*

...about 1:29 am EDT on October 18, 2007. After the prequels, who doubts that Lucas is going to really bring the suck to this series?

19. It's funny, an old friend and former coworker of mine was working on
"Phantom Menace" as an animator, and the character he was assigned to was Jar-Jar Binks. We had worked on a Roger Rabbit short together years earlier and he kept saying "This freaking sucks. My character is f*cking Roger Rabbit as an alien". I thought he was just being his usual malcontented self...until I saw the movie. Man oh man, ruining my childhood memories is right!

25. A friend in Marin showed me Lucas' pilot for the show
Edited on Thu Oct-18-07 06:23 AM by Frank Cannon
Lucas is a client for her law firm.

It's a comedy-variety show similar to the old Christmas show, but with less of a ridiculous plot and more focus on sketches and acts in the tradition of the old Carol Burnett show. Jar-Jar Binks is the manager of a club on Mos Eisley (don't know what he's doing on Mos Eisley, but there you have it) and various and sundry whacky customers come through performing their various schticks for the regulars. The pilot features musical guests The Plain White Ts performing "Hey, There, Delilah" dressed as bright pink aliens in aqua-colored foam shorts, with purple trunks emerging from their heads. Gary Mule Deer and Tony Danza also appear in alien garb and perform some crazy skits with Jar-Jar, who acts as "straight man" (or straight Gungan). Finally, Miley Cyrus and Jimmy Smits make an appearance as a young Princess Leia and her dad, and together they sing Insane Clown Posse's version of "Let's Go All the Way".

Or maybe I dreamed all this.
