Question for cat owners
More specifically, rural type "outdoor" cat owners.

I have a neighbor who has several cats. They like to come onto my property, especially at night when the dogs are inside and asleep. They get up on my vehicles and walk around, even get into my shed and on my bike. The soil is sandy so their sandy feet are scratching up the paint on my car, truck and bike when they do. I have talked to the neighbor about the problem, but all she does is wring her hands and basically say she doesn't know what to do about it.

I got some "dog and cat repellent" at the feed store and put it around the fence line and around where I park my vehicles, no apparent effect as far as I can tell, they are still scratching up my paint. Any suggestions about how to keep them away would be appreciated. I don't know a lot about cats, I'm a dog guy. I don't dislike the cats, they are nice enough, but I don't want to sit by and see my property destroyed either.

thanks :hi:

4. I thought of it
and it might be an option, but I hate to think I have to go to the expense of buying covers and the trouble of covering them up every night because of someone else's failure to control their animals
:(

3. Try a good spray of ammonia around the perimeter. Also, offer to plant catnip
in her yard, as that might help keep them over there.

What's in the cat repellent you bought? Remember, anything in that will ultimately get into their bellies when they clean their feet.

6. I hear swinging a dead cat over your head by the light of the full moon brings good luck.
So, there's that.

8. Kidding, of course. It's just that we recently took in a stray cat...

and the little bitch has total upended the delicate dog-cat detente of the household. So, I'm rather anti-cat these days.

10. let the dogs out for a late night snack
got no use for cat people who let their cats out at night to kill things.

11. Letting cats out at night to kill things is a necessity in rural areas.
If you don't have barn cats, then rats eat your feed.
