13. Ironic.
Think about it, a band plays a song named "Freebird" for a fallen friend of the same name. Then dies in a plane crash.

19. Freebird done in Duets, the movie
was quite well done I thought.
but I'm partial to that movie - karoaki theme with Gwenyth Paltrow, Hughie Lewis and Paul Giamatti (just love that guy, he is beautiful)

some great singing, and mostly all done by the actors themselves. great version of Try a Little Tenderness.

42. Actually, worst cover ever goes to....
...the excrement of a "band" called Korn, and what they did to Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall."

But Wynonna's is pretty bad.

Apologies to any of you "DIE HARD" fans, but Lynyrd Skynyrd jumped the shark so many years ago that this is the shark it jumped:

46. Yankees misunderstand.
Sure, it's overplayed, but that's 'cause it's so darned good. Sappy, yes, but Van Zandt pulls off the trick of singing off-key and making it work. It wouldn't have sounded nearly as good sung on pitch.

Great guitars, too.

No offense meant, Yankees. I really do understand how someone could hate this song; it just comes from the right period of my youth that it will remain special to me. I loved Skynyrd--the Confederate flags, it seemed, were only in the audience--until they caught the Charlie Daniels disease and went uber-Christian.

49. Over. Played.
on classic rock stations. Seriously, FB one of the reasons I stopped listening to the radio with any seriousness of keeping up with current music sometime in the mid-90s and started collecting my own MP3 files. I'd heard FB and STH way too many times.

It's a good song and worthy of remembering a dear friend, but I've simply heard it way too many times.

51. Stoner Anthem
Also one song that is part of the soundtrack of my life.

I dunno if anyone but me sees it this way, but I kind of look at my life and certain songs were a huge part of that particular phase, just like the soundtrack from a movie. Songs also from around that same time in my life would be Nazareth's entire Hair of the Dog album, anything by Edgar Winter, the Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniels, Marshall Tucker and, of course, Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith. (I graduated High School in 1978 so you can pretty much guess what we did for recreation back then...)
