I hate sleeping alone.
I really hate waking up alone.

My SO's hours at work have changed recently, so she goes to work at around midnight and gets home around 9:30 am. I wasn't prepared for how depressing it can be to go to sleep alone and wake up alone 5 days out of every week. :(

1. Could be worse.
Some of us have to sleep alone 7 days a week. :P

2. I'd be clinically depressed if that happened to me
But some people prefer it that way. I've known a handful of couples who couldn't sleep comfortably with each other, so they had separate beds and/or separate bedrooms.

I am the opposite. I like to be held (and to hold someone else) while sleeping. It eases my psyche somehow. :)

3. We evolved from fairly social creatures.
I'm not really surprised that many of us find it easier to sleep in the arms of another. Or at least with somehing to snuggle up against.

13. That's a cool link.
ThinkBlue1966 and I usually sleep in the "Honeymoon Hug" position for at least the first part of the night, and then wind up spooning at some other point while we're asleep. :)

14. It seems there are a lot more positions and people have written books on it ( 39 positions)

Sometimes the names change and I can't find how a position is called, I suspect that some of the positions were invented for this book.
I can't imagine people sleeping in a "colon" position for example http://www.evany.com/sleeptest/colon.htm

19. It creates a delimma for me and husband...
because I love to sleep next to him also, BUT he is a FURNACE. I end up getting too hot and uncomfortable and have to move away.
Still trying to find a good compromise. I think a Califonia King may be in our future..that way I can scoot over for a cuddle when I want to, and move away with plenty of stretching room when I start to overheat.

10. Oh gosh Midlo. I'm sorry.
I thought you were going to say that he got his tonsils out or something (which can sometimes cause snoring, or so I've heard). I feel like an inconsiderate heel. :(

I hope he's doing much better now.

11. I'm with you
I need my bed, not just a sliver of it. Although it's been a while since I regularly slept in the same bed with someone, I don't miss it at all.

5. My job has me traveling 3 or 4 days per week
I love getting the hotel bed to myself for half of each week, but after 4 nights I look forward to getting back.

17. I can't sleep when my wife is away
If I'm camping I don't find its a problem but when I'm home or staying in a hotel and she's not there I have a hard time falling asleep.
