1. It's a college town... |
|
The town I live in has tons of bars...dating back to the days when Oak Park was dry.
Lots of Guinness available, as well.
:D

22. Ha! Forest Park! I KNEW IT! |
|
My dad ran to the liquor store on Madison Ave. all the time!
I grew up at Ridgeland & Jackson. SE OP, way far from the posh part of town.

16. i haven't been west of california since i got back |
|
took the madison street bus west from ashland to austin last saturday and walked down harvey or lombard all the way to cermak.
the yards are so big in oak park and it seems like such a peaceful place.
it was kinda sublime, it was overcast and the air had that feel to it that i remember from my childhood.
i never feel foreign in these places.

and a college student, at that...and even taking a class on alcohol and culture. :+ (Ah, the joys of being an anthro major!) ;) Still, I don't get out as much as I'd like, but we have a nice little tavern or two around here. :hi:

12. I wish I had any idea at all. |

I'll be graduating in May, and right now I have no clue what I want to do with my life. I'm majoring in general cultural anthropology, because I don't have the patience for archaeology or the scientific bent for bio-anthro, but cultural studies fascinate me. :) I'd love to do something with ethnomusicology, since music is a great passion of mine, but unfortunately there aren't too many job opportunities in that field. It is interesting, though. :hi:

9. Oh Lord... Bloomington has great bars. |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-21-07 08:39 PM by greatauntoftriplets
My nieces went to Illinois Wesleyan down there.
My younger niece got her fake ID confiscated in a bar down there when she was underage. It was given to the dean of the nursing school and she had to meet with him/her to retrieve it.
She was
Edited for stupid typo.

13. You have probably been to Bloomington more recently than I have... |
|
My younger niece graduated in 1995. The soprano Dawn Upshaw was the commencement speaker that year.
The triplets' mother graduated in 1993. Donald Rumsfeld :puke: was the commencement speaker that year. The class had originally invited Jimmy Carter to be the commencement speaker -- and he accepted -- but the university was in the middle of a big capital campaign that year and demanded an enormous donation from Carter, which he refused.
I dozed during the speech.
