MySpace has sunk to new lows. |
|
They have this new "reality webTV" show, called "Roommates."
Several 20-something girls who usually wear hardly anything, become roommates in a California home.

5. Oh, that's just got "redeeming social value" written all over it! Rofl! |
|
In the DU Lounge ten years from now, it'll be common to see the phrase: "Locking. No MySpace threads.".

Is this a porno waiting to happen?
Edit: How can supposedly grown people act like that? Aside from the near nudity of that one girl, I want the last two minutes of my life back.

Good to see Ol' Rupert's finally found meaning in his life!

...but I definitely read "aussie" as "asshole." Considering who we're talking about, though, I think it's a reasonable mistake...right? Right?

the market will provide it.
No point in blaming myspace for providing the service....

back in '99, when my son was 12, we moved to a new town. We got a nice place in a quiet neighborhood.
About 2 miles away, near a main road, is a strip club. Centerfolds 2000.... my son never mentioned the place when we drove by. I don't know if he noticed or if he didn't really care... we didn't talk about it.
One day, his cousin Becki was visiting and I took them out somewhere and we drove by and there was a big sign on the building "XXX girls XXX" and "LIVE NUDES". Becki asked if there were really naked women in there and I said that I was pretty sure there were.
Tim didn't say anything.
A few months later we drove by and Tim said, "that parking lot is always full." I tried not to laugh. I responded by saying, "I guess a lot of people like that sort of thing."
Tim said, "I'll never go into a place like that."
Now, I didn't want to traumatize him or anything, so this is what I said: "You know, the naked human body can be pretty exciting. There's no need to feel ashamed about being curious or even excited about seeing naked women."
Then, my 12 year old son said something that made me pretty damn proud.
"But mom, those girls... they're somebody's daughter, somebody's sister... maybe even somebody's mother. It'd bother me a lot to think someone were paying to see you naked."
Yep.... when we can train our youth to treat other human beings with dignity, that will be a great day indeed.
