Some help here, please...How do I scan a document into my computer? |
|
I've got a COMPAQ computer and a new HP printer/scanner that I don't know how to use. I put the document in the scanner and pressed 'scan'. I thought a window would pop up onscreen that would talk me through the process, but so far, nothing. And the scanner, which came packaged with the computer, doesn't have a user's guide or onscreen tutorial. I want to scan in a photo you guys might like, but so far, no luck.
I admit to being a computer doofuss..can anyone help me?

1. Did your scanner come with software? |
|
And the basics:
Is your scanner plugged into the wall for power?
Is your scanner plugged into your computer?
Is your scanner turned on?

B-)
I found the "Printers And Phones" file on My Computer. All it says is my scanner is installed and it passed a diagnostic.

7. Yeah, it *is* frustrating, isn't it? |
|
May I ask what model HP you have? I may be able to find some info on the boards...

4. When you pressed "scan" what did the scanner do? |
|
Was there a prompt or window that suggested where the image would be stored?
Since you're likely using Windows, your ImageViewer will probably pull it up.

10. I pressed 'scan' and it made the same rattly preparatory noises it makes when it |
|
is about to print something. But then...nothing.

13. Reinstall your software that came with the scanner/printer. |
|
Then, check for online driver upgrades. Then, try again.

5. If installed properly your scanner should show up in My Computer |
|
If you see it there, try right-clicking on the icon and seeing if there's a SCAN (or something similar) option. If not, double click on it to open up the wizard and follow it through.

6. Does the printer have a monitor screen built in? |
|
If so, check for on-board help.
