Olympic marathon trials tomorrow LIVE on NBC (5 laps around Central Park)
Basically the Olympics start tomorrow-in NYC. Several interesting elements to this:
1. the trials are a day before the NYC marathon (the women will have theirs the day before Boston in the spring).
2. Several top 10K and 5K runners as well as some amateurs and a steeplechase guy are in the race. When someone breaks early everyone has to figure who they are? Are they for real? Will the "speed" guys be able to be around at the end and what will their kick be like THEN?
3. 1.4 miles to get into Central park and then 5 - 5 mile laps (or something like that)

The start will be live on the Today Show tomorrow.

1. Awesome. I saw the women's marathon trials 4 years ago.
They ran it in St Louis the day before the marathon. Some amazing athletes. Even after 25 miles, any of them ran the last mile faster than I could ever run just one mile.

and run in one of the most polluted places on Earth

BONUS!!!

ON EDIT- there is a set time restriction. This way some Prince or some lone runner from a tiny country can't decide that he is going to run the marathon and hold everything up for 4-5 hours.

3. Ugh, I don't have broadband
I still have dial-up, 'cause why pay for something I will rarely need. Tomorrow would have been one of those times.
