Tonight's concert Son Volt opening for the Black Crowes

2. Tickets weren't that expensive

This is the 2nd time this year we've seen Son Volt. My friend never heard of them til I loaned her some of the CDs and now she's hooked.

Of course there is one major problem - no matter how hard we try we always seem to be running late for concerts and end up missing the opening acts for many shows. Most of the time it doesn't matter unless you happen to want to see Elvis Costello (opening up for Bob Dylan) or the Doobie Brothers (opening up for Steve Miller).

We MUST break this bad habit tonight!

4. I've seen Son Volt twice this year, too.

I saw them here at Stubb's and up in Washington at Willie Nelson's 4th of July picnic.

5. I'll get there - I hope SV is at SXSW this year

We have reservations at the Holiday Inn and have our badges this year. My friend's band is sending in a package in hopes to play at SXSW.

6. Whether or not they will be there likely depends on if they have new music.

However, Jay Farrar has played solo at SXSW too. So, you might get to see him at least.

Who knew that Merriweather Post Pavillion was so screwed up with access into the area that traffic would be backed up for 90 minutes just trying to get into the venue. Hell, at least with the Tweeter in Camden there are about 10 different ways to get to parking for the event

At the very least, they put on a fun show.

But Son Volt, man, for "Windfall" alone, those guys should go straight to heaven.
