*sigh*

After 13 years, you'd think those two could work it out themselves.

I found myself giving the same speech my father used to give us as children:

"You two disappoint me... you really disappoint me..."

:eyes:

(this is as close as they will get to one another without killing each other!)

1. Beautiful felines!
Wow, KC2, they're really gorgeous.

We've got the same problem--we have three cats--started out with one, a male, then got the second, a female, soon after, about 10 years ago, and they used to coexist pretty well, even "spooning" on cold days. Then, alas, we adopted the neurotic Persian runt a friend found wandering in her neighborhood. She's completely upset the apple cart, hatin' the other two, and she and the other female REALLY go at it. But if Jasmine, our moose, isn't attacking her, she goes looking for her to try to GET her to attack her.

Cats. Critters from another planet. :eyes:

At least I know our household isn't the only upset apple cart!

The ironic part? Bear was our first...and for the whole first year we had him he would sit at the window of the apartment complex we lived at and meow at other cats (it was the most pitiful meow you'd ever hear when he'd see another cat). I mean, dummy me, it seemed like he needed a playmate. Anyway, my cats have hated each other from the very first moment they ever saw one another. They are a good test case on how *not* to introduce cats to one another... that is for certain!

At least they go for a month or so at a time without trying to kill each other now! *sigh*

This is "Bear" as a kitten (where he spent almost every waking hour!):

6. Aww how cute
Yeah, "inscrutable" doesn't begin to describe our feline overlords. We try to please 'em and we just...fail!

DH and I always joke that we should have listened to Dilbert (the original, the male)--when we brought Jasmine home, he peered in the cat carrier and gave us a wounded look that said, "Why?! Was I not enough for you? Did I do something wrong?" But he learned to live with Jasmine, because she was easygoing with him.

When we brought Clover home, he peered in the cat carrier and gave us a disgusted look that said, "You know, I warned you last time, and you didn't listen. You're on your own now." And he walked off.

Now he spends most of his time presiding over his kingdom, the guest room, from atop the bed. Sometimes he wanders downstairs to claim a spot by the woodstove, but woe betide either of the females if they venture into his straw basket.

Here is a great example of his disgusted look. This one has something to do with the delusion that he can still fit into a kitten-size box.

3. Welcome to my world
Abbott and Evita have never cuddled unless they're in extreme dire situations (waiting for the vet, moving).

4. Hey...
Thanks. It is nice to know it's not only us. Sometimes I feel like a defective cat companion (I hate the word "owner"). I've had cats all my life and I've never seen anything like these two. Thanks again!

5. Cat owner -- Hah! ... "Kitty Servant" -- that's what I am!
But I'm happy to serve my feline overlords. :patriot:

Your kitties are so pretty. I guess they have one of those screwed-up co-dependent disfunctional things going on, but it works for them... :)
