How come sight is arguably the most dominant sense....
How come sight is arguably the most dominant sense, yet possibly the hardest to evoke old memories?

Think about it. You smell something, and it immediately reminds you of something in your past. You hear an old song and it reminds you of a time long ago when you first heard it. You taste something and it reminds you of eating something when you were young. Even touch can bring back memories.

But for some reason, sight--the only sense that seems to always be prevelant no matter what (unless you are blind or sleeping)--is less effective in bringing back memories than the other four senses? You go back to some place that you were at a long time ago, and it never seems to look the same as when you remembered it, even if little about it has actually changed. You see someone that you haven't seen forever, and they always look a little different.

Ever wonder why this seems to be the case?

1. I don't know if sight is least able to kindle memories.
I'd have to see a study on that.

Thought might be the dominant sense.
