I have the solution to the Israeli-Palestinian 'situation'.
Just got home from a road trip.
Coastal Alabama to San Diego and back.
You could make it in 3 days, but we didn't kill ourselves and took 3 1/2 each way.

Anyway...between San Antonio and El Paso...
THERE. AIN'T. NUTHIN'.
Just sagebrush, scrub oak, tumbleweeds, and the biggest damned wind farm I've ever seen.
(Biggest in the U.S., I think.)

I say we bring all the Israelis and Palestinians over here.
Give 'em that big chunk of land.
Nobody's much using it.
It's about the same kind of climate and terrain they're used to.
The border between them will be I-10.
One side gets everything northeast of the interstate, and the other side gets the southwest side.
It don't make no difference.
It's all the same.

There.
What's the next problem?
;-)

1. We could give El Paso to New Mexico.
That way, one wouldn't have to drive through the new Gaza Strip to get to another part of the state.

3. Went through 2 Border Patrol checkpoints, to and from.
And ALL inside the good ol' U.S. of A.
All traffic off of the interstate and slow drive by some gimlet-eyed guards.
We passed inspection.
;-)

8. Miz t. is SO guilt ridden.
I think it's her Catholic upbringing.
She'll confess to anything.

Our stop at CA border:
Pleasant looking young Hispanic 'Fruit Policewoman'(?):
"Good morning ma'am. Do you have any fruits or vegetables in your car?"
Miz t.:
"Um...we have some potato salad?"
(Wry smile from woman)
"That's OK, ma'am. Have a nice day."

2. I don't think so.
That is where I grew up.

We can give them Montana.

I'm not sure if I was looking at buttes or mesas, but some of the most awe inspiring scenery I've ever driven through.
(In west Texas I mean.)

13. RACIST!
Israeli flatulence is every bit as smelly, if not more so.
I think it's a combination of the matzos and gefiltefish.

10. You need to come up with some religious significance.
They like to fight over hallowed ground - even if it ain't worth a shit for anything else.

17. OK, lemme think a minute.
Awright...
When Jesus spent 40 days and 40 nights in the Wilderness
(Or was that the rains and floods for Noah's Ark? I get 'em confused.)

Anyways...how do we know that Wilderness wasn't in West Texas?
I mean, God (or the Devil?) could have plopped his boy down anywhere he thought would do the job.

So we promote the place as the TRUE Wilderness...heck, we can set off ALL kinds of controversy.

12. Was the wind farm the one in Tehachapi?
Because that's the second biggest in the world in terms of number of generators (its the largest in output). It's actually in California and I love driving past there. :hi:

I don't like your idea, though. I don't really think we need to import conflict, do we?

15. Culberson County, West Texas.
The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) teamed with the General Land Office GLO) and private industry to develop this commercial wind power plant, the first in Texas. The Texas Wind Power Project, located in Culberson County in West Texas, has 112 Kenetech 33M-VS wind turbines capable of generating 35 megawatts of electricity -- enough to power 12,000 to 15,000 homes. Since the ribbon-cutting for the Texas Wind Power Project in 1995, the Texas' Permanent School Fund earned more than $750.000 from it. The project is expected to earn more than $3 million for the PSF and create $300 million in increased economic activity over the 25-year lease period. For additional information see this GLO web page.

16. Interesting
Drive by Tehachapi sometime. Around 5000 wind turbines - they cover the hills. I think they're neat looking myself. :hi:

19. My Middle East peace plan
Gather up all the weed confiscated by the DEA (that isn't smoked up by them), and airlift it into the Middle East. Let them smoke for a while. Then airlift Twinkies.

There'd never be violence again. :hippie: :smoke:
