i had to carry my stanky ass to the ER today
been having this flu shit for about three weeks and hacking and wheezing.

so i gets a nosebleed last night.

another one this morning.

today around lunch, the motherfucker starts flowing blood like a faucet out my nose and shit. and i was like all, "aw hell nah, i'm having a stroke and shit."

i've never experienced free flowing blood out of any of my head holes, so it tripped me the fuck out.

anyway, the doctor stuck this mesh inflatable tampon up my nose.

so i'm walking down division street with a distended nostril and a plastic tube hanging out which hurt like a motherfucker and then the other nostril starts pouring blood.

walk back in the ER.

"what the fuck doc?"

"oh, i need to stick another one in the other nostril." he says. bear in mind, this sucker is jammed all the way up there.

i had to tell him no and ask how long it would take to die from a nosebleed.

anyway, my BP is normal (yay!) and my cardiac shit is all cool.

so, i'll just wait for the next bleed, put pressure on it and gag up another clot. no big deal.

3. Oh my!
How was your health, before getting the flu? I hope this is just the flu and you'll be rid of this stuff shortly.

5. i've been up and down
watching salt intake and taking my pills, but i got sick and it seemed like it took forever to clear up.

i think through all of the time i spent coughing, i probably ruptured something.

i'm just guessing here.

7. I'm not a big fan of how medicine is currently practiced
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 06:10 PM by in search of sanity
I get the feeling that one is rushed out of appointments with a prescription for the immediate problem without any attempt to see the bigger, more complete picture.
Naturopaths and Tradtional Chinese Medicine Practitioners are, IMHO, much better at seeing the complete picture. Why don't you consider seeing someone like that, if your problem does not clear up soon?

8. i guess getting older is part of it
i used to be as strong as an ox and almost invincible. but i'm starting to notice pain now and sickness kinda lingers.

i've been reading about natural medicine, but i think a lot of it comes back to diet, water intake, and just quitting smoking (for me).

i'm amazed at how well i feel when i am sufficiently hydrated.

Stanky ass too.

Kill two birds with one stone.

:P

Could just be the dry winter air and the fact that you have been probably blowing your nose a lot. During the winter I get nose bleeds easier.

10. What, no pharmaceutical grade cocaine to constrict the vessels?
I had that happen to me, and I kid you not, they used Pharm grade cocaine to get it to stop.

Of course this was 20 years ago.

16. Had frequent very heavy nose bleeds
off and on for about a week or so several years ago, like 12 years ago. Seems I had a broken blood vessel in my nose. Went to the doc's office and she cauterized it right there in her office. She took what looked like, and might have been, a long chimney match, lit it and blew it out and stuck the hot end immediately in my nasal passage where the broken vessel was. I've never had it happen again since.
