Have you seen Comet Holmes? |
|
We saw it last night. You can see it with your bare eyes....
Go out mid-evening - say around 10:00 or 11:00. Look to the Northeast and look way high. Find a "W" that's on it's side. Then, extend your arm and twist your fist sideways so it's parallel to the ground, and look two fist-widths to the right, and one fist-width down. You'll see a triangle of "stars". That's the constellation Perseus. The lower-left "star" is Comet Holmes.
It was first seen in the 1890s, and it's back. For some unknown reason, it's now shooting off a lot of particles or gas. Nobody knows why. But it's a rare treat to see a comet. Enjoy!

Unfortunately, in central Los Angeles, so it's not amazing, but is still startling. Kudos to my sister for knowing about it and searching out the binocs.

3. How did it look where you are located? |
|
It was pretty much just a fuzzy greenish orb out here (but that's enough!!) I've seen pics with great detail. Here's hoping that you get to see it better than we have.

it's nothing spectacular, but it's a comet - and you can see it!
