Ok, a question for the AV nerds in the Lounge

I am finally going to join the 21st century and get a shiny 42" Sharp Aquos with my Christmas bonus(or, hopefully the 46" if Costco still has 'em on sale in Dec). My question for y'all is about HDTV. I am a huge DirecTV fan, I had them back in NY practically since they first came out and the only reason I don't have it now is because my roommates were too damn cheap and were not TV addicts like me. Fortunately I've got my own place now so I don't have to worry about people cramping my habit. :P

How would you rate their HD service? Is it worth the money? I hear you get a bunch more channels and they're actually ones you would watch (I checked out Dish just for shits and giggles and I hadn't even heard of most of their HD channels). Is their HD DVR good?
