GD is getting louder AND dumber. |
|
We're just as bad as Billo and Fox News sometimes--no evidence, no clarification, no context, no maturity. We just hammer away with our agendas fully exposed, name-calling and mud-slinging away, cause the Internet keeps us from punching each other in the nose.
No wonder I like it here better.

I wouldn't try it in GD, however. :scared:

But then they find people like me telling them to read Noam Chomsky. We are everywhere. You cannot escape the electric eye!

Foreign policy is where it's at for me. If we cannot change the way we interact with the rest of the world I don't think we can make the world a better place. All of the Democratic candidates have plans to make things better for Americans. But how many candidates have plans to make things better for the world?

7. I don't know, honestly. |
|
I'm not posting in GD anymore tonight--I'm tired of Democratic in-fighting...for now.
Besides, I'm no fan of Hillary's--I just resent the tactic the OP was using to make her look bad. There are so many, many ways to make the Clintons seem (rightly) undesirable, but most are less juvenile than what's going on there tonight.

10. Your opinion is just as valid as someone who has been here a long time |
|
Some people act like someone with a low post count doesn't matter as much as a long timer. Well, that's bullshit. I think people should be able to come here and speak their peace without being hassled about their post count credentials. Most Democrats have never posted on DU. Just think if we went by those message board credentials. This would truly be the democratic underground.

In the real world, I am probably one of the most liberal folks in my family (most of whom are registered democrats). Here I get attacked as a moderate to conservative because I happen to disagree with people on certain things (I also dislike HRC for many reasons, yet find myself defending her from truly unfair attacks (Hilary is a closet republican and that sort of nonsense). To read GD you would think its moderate Dems and centrists who are the enemy so to speak and that really saddens me....

Cindy Sheehan is a saint and so is Kucinich, never mind what they've said and done before. "Attack" either and you'll get condemned as a freeper.
However, post "Pelosi sucks goat testicles" and watch it shoot to the top of the Greatest Threads in no time.
DU GD is in a very sorry state... It's in dire need of reform.

as far as the Hilary and other infighting goes, I find it so counter-productive to everything.
Yes, I'd love to be more represented by the Democratic Party, and yes, I disagree with at least one issue on every candidate, but I swear... if people have not learned from 2000, then perhaps we get the President that we deserve, the truly worse of two evils.
Frankly I'd rather have a Centrist like Hilary than any of the Republicans. Any of them. Frankly, we're free to vote how we want to, but to the people threatening to not vote at all - I hope they realize that the right wing who is a minority wants nothing more than for fewer people to vote. It makes their odds better for winning or cheating, if nothing else. I mean, hell why make their job pathetically easy?

16. Somebody finally called me a closet freeper after... |
|
all these years here.
I'm convinced there's a variant of Gresham's Law working on Usenet and internet boards where the loudest and most useless drive out the rest, thereby destroying the froup. They, of course, have no idea what they're doing, since they are always right.
What they don't get, in their attempts to purify the boards, is that it's only electrons, and anonymous ones at that. No one really cares what anonymous electrons think, and there are always more electrons on more boards out there.
Note that in the real world Kucinich has the popularity of gonorrhea but here people are spending real money to make him the runaway favorite on the Fun Run. Others are spending real money to make Hillary run backwards.
And back on '04, an actual, real live, Kerry campaign worker was driven off of DU because he "didn't know what he was talking about."
It all makes ya wonder...

22. I have a thoughtful (if I do say so myself) thread that's been hovering on the front page of GD-P... |
|
for two days now: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=3708362&mesg_id=3708362So there! :P A lot of GD and GD-P is, admittedly, little better than a catfight (actually, it's worse -- at least fighting cats are mildly amusing), but some of it's worthwhile. Just gotta separate the wheat from the chaff. Although, granted, there's been an awful lot of chaff to weed through recently.
