over-rated, overpaid, overblown egos.

The creepy thing is that since we have no royalty we have actors to worship, but they probably collectively take in far more dough than a royal family would. Maybe we should just crown Paris and make them all get real jobs.

Jerry Maguire -- Cocky sports agent
Mission: Impossisble -- Cocky secret agent
The Firm -- Cocky Lawyer
Risky Business -- Cocky pimp
Top Gun -- Cocky fighter pilot
Days of Thunder -- Cocky racecar driver

It pretty much works with any of his roles.

95. From the books, I thought Lestat was a cocky asshole
and Cruise played the part well - I thought Brad Pitt probably was more like Lestat physically in that he is taller & was slimmer.

I loved the book back in the day, and I was more upset by Brad Pitt at Louis than Cruise as Lestat because the character of Louis really needed somebody with the acting chops to pull off a good "tortured soul" type - like an Ed Norton or Sean Penn.

He still doesn't get the attention he deserves, but at least he works steadily and has attracted some critical acclaim.

As for Jack Nicholson, the last performance of his I liked was his take on Eugene O'Neill in Reds. I still haven't quite forgiven a dear friend of mine for forcing me to watch the end of The Witches of Eastwick.

92. .
"When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, looks you crooked in the eye and asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

Or, my favorite:
"You know what ol' Jack Burton says at a time like this?"

"Who?"

"Jack Burton ... ME!"

67. He's a great entertainer, comedian, writer, etc. but Seinfeld cannot act
Watch his shows and you see him struggle to be convincing.

I don't know why they don't replace with less irritating Matt Dillon in roles.

73. Streep.
Maybe she's learned some chops in recent decades, but I was done with her back when I realized that her much-touted accents were all identical.

74. You have to be kidding?
Streep is brilliant- In my opinion she is one of the best.

77. Not the greatest example, maybe.
I know a little German, but can't follow everything that's said--which would help. It's a neat scene, though (you can follow what happens even without the language; I first saw it before I learned any German), and Streep does fine as far as I can tell.

I don't hate her, as perhaps my OP hinted. I've just found her highly overrated, and haven't understood why she's considered one of the best.

86. Angie Jolie of course.
Ha, ha....guess what? The family of one of the kids she adopted in Africa wants the child back because they claim the mother is alive. Poor, poor Angie...sigh.

With a few obvious exceptions, of course, such as Harrison Ford, Johnny Depp, and... Hmmm. That seems to be the extent of my short list...

He was decent back in the 80s in light-hearted roles like the Lethal Weapon movies.
