Y'know what I hate worse than people checking my receipt?
when they check to see whether the bill I give them is fake or not. I wouldn't really have a problem with it if it was store policy to check EVERY bill, but at certain stores that I frequent, some cashiers will check and some won't. It makes me feel like I LOOK like a criminal. At least with the receipts, they check EVERYBODY's.

1. Perhaps different bills look different to them (more worn or whatever),
so sometimes they check and sometimes not? Or, maybe some days you look more like a criminal. You should do an experiment - dress up one day and dress down the next, or go through the line with a hat and sunglasses, and see if they check the bills...

2. I used to work at a store where they had us check. Here's the
gist of it:

Anything that's a $50 or higher gets checked. Sometimes you remember to check. Sometimes you don't. Sometimes the manager is around and you make damn sure you check!

At any rate, it doesn't have to do with YOU. If you have a counterfeit bill, you very well may have gotten it somewhere where no one knew it was a counterfeit...including you. Probably many people are carrying them without realizing it.

The store doesn't do it to "nab" a criminal. They do it so they don't get screwed out of the money!

3. I make a joke about it, I say something like:
"Don't worry, I know its authentic, I printed it myself."

I'm a smartass.

4. Then don't go there anymore!!
Fuck them and the horse they rode in on!! :grr:

The first time I'm suspected of shoplifting? I'm gone!!
It's sort of funny if I dress up, I'm not hassled but if
I dress like I'm poor (my usual attire) I get followed!

I love playing with their heads! :P

They're such assholes!! :nuke:

5. I had a bad incident in one store, along that line.
Some teenage dumbfuck decided my $20 bill was fake.

I told him it was real, and I wanted to talk to his supervisor.
He said he was going to have store security throw me out.

I said, "Fine. Then when I sue your store, it's going to be on *YOUR* record."

Supervisor comes out, teenage dumbfuck says I'm being disruptive, and keeps telling me to shut up.

I pull the supervisor off to the side, show him the 20, tell him the teenager is a liar, and the other customers nearby will back me up.

Supervisor examines the 20 carefully, and finds the little anti-counterfeit strip in it.
Supervisor goes over to teenager, and fires him, right there and then.

Teenager threatens to find me and "mess me up."
Store security holds the teenager for the cops, and later, I see the cops arresting the teenager, they find dope in his pocket and a crack pipe.

Store gives me a $20 gift card for my trouble.
