Is anyone else a Dwight Yoakam fan?
He is the only country artist I enjoy listening to. Anyone else listen to him?

One of the few modern country artists I'll listen to.

4. He's got some great stuff...
"Guitars, Cadillacs and Hillbilly Music" is a great song... a number of others.

There are a few "old school" country types I can tolerate. Marty Stuart has a few good ones, too.

5. "If There Was A Way", and "This Time" are awesome albums.
Those are my two favorites.

He's got a sound that is just different than almost anything else out there. It's a shame that more artists don't follow his lead.

7. I like him getting his skull split open by
Billy Bob in Sling Blade if that helps. :-)

Which means that he did his job well. Very well.

About his music, I have no idea.

9. he's an incredible musician...
i've seen him live a few times--highly charismatic performer, great rhythm guitar player, great arranger

Unlike you, I only listen to country. Dwight definitely has a place in the Pantheon of the 100 or so artists dating from the 1920s to the present who are great.

I have not listened to country radio for twenty years--all of it is shit. Real country needs to be sought out, because the "industry" is just feeding crappy pop to redneck teenyboppers. Almost all of the contemporary greats are based in Austin, not Nashville (Dwight, based in LA, is an exception).

16. Oh yeah.
Wonderful artist in the same "countrypolitan" niche that Lyle Lovett occupies (although, for some reason, less attention is paid him). He and Pete Anderson make terrific albums. He's not a bad character actor, either.

but I do like Dwight Yoakum, along with singers that were around in the 80's.

23. He's great!
I saw him at the Fleet Pavilion in Boston a few years back, and he put on an excellent show.

His opening act, Danni leigh, was also very good. She comes from that same traditionalist, honky-tonk neighborhood.

24. "Blame The Vain" kicks Nashville's candy ass!
I bought it sight unheard and my jaw hit the floor! Dwight's new guitar player must've listened to Revolver in utero. His best CD EVAH!

Dwight rules, Toby drools.
