I tend to realize I don't like a place fairly soon, but stay long enough to look okay on my resume. The one place I loved (Iowa) the church couldn't afford to pay me what they were supposed to per my experience. I was there 5 years before coming here and now I'm back to deciding how long I can stay here and look respectable. I probably wouldn't have moved so much if I were married with kids. But I'd also have a built-in support and friend network, and probably wouldn't want to move so much.
