So, I've basically been ordered to get a Flu Shot
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 05:44 PM by Mike03
This is something I've strenuously avoided for many years.

Today I spent several more hours online reading the latest research and websites, and hoping to find evidence that some of the negative information about the shots were myths.

I'm still pissed and worried.

Am I falling prey to parranoia?

Is there still truly thimerosol (and aluminum?) in flu shots?

Is it dangerous?

Is it linked to Alzheimer's by more than one study? (This is the one that scares the hell out of me).

Thoughts? Opinions? I would love to hear thoughts from people who have researched this issue in depth. There are "factual" arguments on both sides, and determining who is truthful is never easy anymore.

4. the odds of anything bad happening from the flu shot
are far less than your getting the flu and ensuing complications.

People are notoriously bad at figuring out odds and chance.

5. I HAVE to have one...
or I could die from the flu.

The drug I take for my MS zaps my immune system, so it's flu shot or die from a stupid bug, maybe. I'll take the risk.

8. Mike03, are you in the military?
If not, how are you being "ordered" to get a flu shot? As I am in the Navy, I obviously don't have a choice, but I can't see how a civilian employer (If that's the case) could "order" you to get a flu shot. Just asking out of curiosity.
