The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poetry Break, 11/22/07
"Kennedy"

I think that what he gave us most was pride.
It felt good to have a President like that:
bright, brave and funny and goodlooking.

I saw him once drive down East Seventy-second Street
in an open car, in the autumn sun
(as he drove yesterday in Dallas).
His thatch of brown hair looked as though it had grown extra thick
the way our wood animals in Connecticut
grow extra fur for winter.
And he looked as though it was fun to be alive,
to be a politician,
to be President,
to be a Kennedy,
to be a man.

1. I sincerely hope this poem is getting no views because people are busy with the holiday.

4. Yeah, more people seem to have their brains turned on over there.
Hopefully, it will be read and enjoyed in that forum.

5. I think it would get more views and K&R's, if you titled it differently

6. The poetry threads have already been retitled once (poetry breaks).
I'm not really interested in re-titling them again.

8. Oh. Well, since the editing period expired, I guess that's kind of out.
Also, I don't like to draw attention to the title of the poems (for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is the sketchy copyright situation). But thanks for the suggestion.

9. Had not considered that aspect of it. --
Although I have wondered about the legalities of some things I have seen posted at various times.
Peace~TA

14. My dear BlueIris...
This really captures him...

I can see him so vividly as I read these words...

I was in college when he was killed, and I had wanted so badly to vote for him...

But of course, I never got to...

It was a horrifying day, so long ago...

Thank you so much for this ...
