Battlestar Galactica: Razor - very intense and very good (no spoilers)
It focuses on the Battlestar Pegasus and when Lee Adama takes over, but contains extensive flashbacks to the day when the Cylons attacked the colonies and Pegasus' first days after that with Admiral Cain in command.

The story focuses on Lt. Kendra Shaw, who started her service on Pegasus the day of the attack. I thought her story was gripping and well done.

There is a huge spoiler at the end of the two hour show as well, but I won't reveal it here on the forums, though you can PM me for it if you want.

2. The woman playing Shaw
really did a great job in a difficult role, I thought.

6. Galactica isn't just about sci-fi
the sci-fi is really a backdrop on the human drama.

but, to somebody that dislikes sci-fi, it probably doesn't seem that way.

7. It really is one of the better ones...
The gooey bathtubs, full of slime, sort of ruin it for me though! lol

Okay... I'll go away now.

10. I see it as humanity v mega corporations
But I have seen just about everything that way since 1980.

The cylons - The Machine

The human looking cylons - the fools who collaborate with the mega corporations to make us all into disposable cogs, with the hope that they themselves can be spared the process.

12. I'm thinking
it has something to do with how the lost tribe left for the mystical place of earth - and, now we have this lost "tribe" of old model cylons having left on their own as well.

But, I hope it's not like the Matrix sequels on how everything happens again...

13. My take on it
Humans build machines

Machines become so advanced that they want to become human

In the process humans are destroyed

Machines become the new humans

Humans build machines...

19. That was my thought on it
And that "racial" memories were being accessed by the Cyclon hybrid. But I missed a lot of last season so what the hell do I know.

14. It's a Mayan philosophy (other cultures as well of course)
The Maya believed that time is circular, not linear, and absolutely everything humanity has experienced will come around again on a regular schedule. (The question I have is--so when am I gonna be thin again like I was 10 years ago?)

Then... one of the Bush boys...

24. OMG I'm so depressed now

The good news is that kind of crap only happens with gaps of like a hundred years or so (ahem Hitler ahem) because after it's over folks never want it to happen again and it only recurs when people start to forget.

Other "good" news--if we crumble like the Roman empire, which seems highly likely at this point, the evil despot will be terrorizing some other (successful) country.

17. Will it spoil Season Three?
Some of us are waiting for Season Three on DVD and waiting and waiting...) Should we wait to see Razor until after we've seen Three or is it a stand alone film?

23. Yeah. I wonder if that's part of the whole "This has happened before and will happen again."
Which I suppose means that we'll soon be seeing the reincarnation of Galactica 1980.

:scared:
