I'd like to think that my discussions with Otis represent a give-and-take on the part of both of us. Unfortunately, lately I've been getting the impression that he's going to say whatever he has to say, no matter how I respond.
It's not really a conversation. He meows his disapproval when he finds me out of bed in the middle of the night, What gives? Why aren't you sleeping? So I meow back at him, but it's not getting through. The next thing he says is the same as before.
And God forbid I should forget to refill his bowl on my way out. That's it! You never think of me! He will not accept an apology.
I figure that in a cat's previous life he was somebody's mother-in-law. I can't imagine what it's like to get through to a Siamese cat.

2. Dogs are beautiful at forgiveness. Cats remember the smallest slight, forever. |

If cats had opposable thumbs.
God help us all if evolution produces that particular mutation.
