My school's e-mail system sucks big time! |
|
I missed my Monday night class last week because I was having some car trouble so like any responsible student, I e-mailed my professor explaining my situation and attaching a copy of my paper that was due on the e-mail. Well 2 days later I get an e-mail from the professor saying that he never received a paper from me and if I didn't send him a copy of it, I wouldn't get full credit. So naturally I sent him off another e-mail explaining my previous e-mail and another copy of my paper.
Well I go to class tonight and ask if he got any of my e-mails and of course he did not. Thankfully he's a nice guy or I have an honest face (maybe both) but I explained that I sent him 2 e-mails and even offered to go with him after class and show him my e-mail sent folder. He said that was not necessary as long as I drop another copy off at his office tomorrow (he initially suggested I send another e-mail but I figured I'd rather be safe than sorry). But if he was a bit of a jerk or just not very understanding I could have gotten really screwed by this.
Apparently I'm not the only one with e-mail troubles, ever since they made the switch to this new system, e-mails are getting lost all the time. This is really unacceptable especially when grades are involved!

1. I'd take a written complaint to the school's IT department, or |
|
whichever department is in charge of the email system (notice I said "take" and not "email").
And if you know other students that has happened to, perhaps you can suggest they do the same. That is really not cool that your emails, and especially your papers, aren't getting to their destination.

they did the switchover mid semester...so instead of doing it properly and waiting until the spring semester we just woke up one morning with a new e-mail client. It's sooooo frustrating!

School's e-mail system. :eyes:
WE had to HAND-WRITE all of our school papers on TREE BARK that we skinned OURSELVES, using HUNKS OF GLOWING URANIUM as pencils, then CRAWL NAKED along a path LINED WITH BROKEN LIGHT BULBS...
Eh, I ain't buyin' it, either. x(

We're having some of the same issues here - a mid-quarter 'upgrade', a barely functional spam filter, and e-mails that randomly disappear only to arrive days after being sent. Damned irritating...
