83. Any time!
But i tend to go on and on... probably more than anyone really wants to know about salamanders and how they apparently don't like roads and agriculture. :P

In the pic above i am taking a very small tissue sample from the tail (ow!). I did a genetic analysis -- you can basically use DNA like a tag, to see how isolated populations are. (If a population is really isolated, the individuals' DNA will look very similar because they are basically inbred). So now i'm looking at whether this isolation is related to the landscape around the ponds -- and it is, big time. The biggest thing seems to be agriculture -- the more of it there is, the more isolated the sally populations are.

That's the short version... the long version will be my dissertation. ;)

Are the Salamander populations lack of varying DNA killing them off?

And if so, what will that tell us?

28. Eh, I cheat and use gamemaking software. :)
I'm trying to learn C# though, so I can start doing games for X-Box LiveArcade. Just little 2d ones to start with, since I have absolutely no artistic talent whatsoever. Then I'll try to work my way up to 3d.

I used to make RPGs a long time ago, pen and paper ones, not for the computer. So I have several universes alrady made that I could use for more serious games if I wanted to. :) Everything from fantasy to sci-fi to superhero stuff all ready to go. I've got a few ideas for various genres of games in those 'verses. Also, my old roommate and I had an awesome idea for a set of spoof games that I'd like to start on at some point. He's an artist, both 2d and 3d, so I'd work on the game design and programming, and he'd do the artwork and help with design where he can.

Or, I would really like it if Steve Jobs would get around to upgrading the Mac Pro Towers with a GPU that is not only of recent vintage, but that is capable of running DX10 when in windows, like oh say an nVidia 8800GTX...

That would make me happy.

Glad you liked her site as she has always done well with site design. She used to have one devoted to helping writers find online outlets for their writing, but had to give it up a few years back. I think she's said once her health improves that she will resurrect it.

66. Homepage? What a quaint concept...
Haven't bothered to set one up in years. If and when I turn this thing off, or close Opera, it comes back with whatever windows were open last time.

Most browsers do that now, don't they?
