"And this is Mr. Christ, our Loan Department Manager..."
Edited on Thu Dec-06-07 09:04 AM by Tyler Durden

"He will be handling your account's FINAL APPROVAL, of course."

This is a real painting hanging on the wall of some Fundamentalist Bank in the Midwestern Hinterlands, titled (get this) "Unending Riches." I got it from a New Your Times Sunday magazine feature all about the Fundie Business Movement, or How Jesus wants to make your Bottom Line soar through the Pearly Gates.

Ew.

5. That is really scary.
I thought JC's message was basically "Ask not want I or your neighbors can dor for you ... ask what you can do for your neighbors."

This picture shows to what lengths these fundie asswipes have gone to subvert JC's message. What was it Tammy Faye (Baker) said ... "if you want a recreational vehicle, tell God want color you want." Yea, just send your money in to us and we'll see to it that God delivers you your RV right up to your driveway.

14. My thoughts exactly.
They're worshipping the Golden Calf. This fundie business consortium is a very real thing. It'd be nice to have a listing of all those wonderful enterprises so we could try our hardest to give our hard-earned $$$ to someone else.

9. It's part of the "word faith" thing
Rich people are holy, otherwise they wouldn't be rich.

Name that logical fallacy.

15. I don't get "word faith" out of Calvanism
...at least how it's explained on Wikipedia.

Can you expand on that?

24. not "word faith" per se
but a belief (as Calvinism was often practiced, and is still practiced) that determinism enables wealth. The wealthy are that way because God chose them to be, and therefore there is nothing wrong with anything you do (you are either chosen or not, and you can tell if you are chosen if you are successful, natch) Modern Calvinism is, among other things, incredibly popular among Swiss bankers, for instance.
