Single people are HUMAN BEINGS, too. |
|
We have lives. We have family. We have friends. We have responsibilities. We have wants. We have needs.
We are just like everybody else.
Sorry, some work stress with possible redeployment, etc. Our jobs may be reclassified so staying with them may mean a demotion, or we can be redeployed and essentially stay at our current classification. (still in the very early stages so we really don't know too much yet)
When talking about this with others at work, there's the vague. "Well at least you will have a job". True, but who would want to take a demotion? Think about all the people with their kids in hockey and ballet, etc. (I don't even think they understand the needs and concerns about the single PARENTS at work, either. Making adjustments will affect them more than anybody, I think)
I said I really don't care about them, are they caring about me? Yeah, selfish single person I guess. ;) If I don't bring home the bacon, nobody does? (I don't think a lot of people understand that even single people have expenses to pay and yes, want all the same nice things other people have)
I'm just tired of being told that I should be happy, it could be worse. Why do people HAVE to accept compromises all the time? I think people who work hard everyday should be able to move forward, not backward.
Maybe I'll just polish up my resume and transfer to another position. :)
Just thought I would rant.

2. They are? Damn, thanks for the insight; I didn't know that. Uh, I don't get the connection |
|
between the fact that you're single, and the job stuff. And I read your message three times.
What am I missing here?

20. Okay, single people and single parents are human beings, too! |
|
there.
:)
I'm a bit all over the place tonight, just a tad cranky.;)
I guess I wanted to include them as well because they seem to get the same level of understanding at my workplace that single people (no kids) get.

11. Something a friend said just stuck with me......... |
|
it was essentially "well some people have kids in hockey and ballet"
Which is fine and dandy. Hockey and ballet are great. But I don't really care about Becky and Bobby's extracurricular activities right now, thanks.
Just a tad cranky, I don't like uncertainty. And I don't think it will come to it, but I would rather be redeployed than take a demotion. Nobody wants to be hit by a demotion. :(

single/childless people often have to fill in for those whose familial obligations require them to be elsewhere.
Also, in a lot of places, a large portion of the benefits pool is devoted to people with children. Daycare subsidies, new parent bonuses, etc. etc. Childless people don't get those benefits.

16. I'm the child of a single parent....... |
|
or was for many years until my Mom remarried, so I only have respect for the single parents. Lots of women where I work had to raise their kids with no support. Change is necessary but could be hard on them. :(
I don't special bonuses, just maybe a tad bit of understanding from SOME co-workers that yes, I have concerns to address in my life, bills that need to be paid, etc, etc.

21. I've worked a fair amount of OT for people who had to pick the kids up |
|
Not their fault, day care charges an arm if you're late. But it was frustrating even if my frustration wasn't at my coworkers specifically. It's not like they were taking off to go shopping.
