Suburban Sex Parties Draw Complaints
Fess up. Who's house is this loungers???

http://www.statesman.com/news/content/shared-gen/ap/National/Suburban_Sex_Club.html

DUNCANVILLE, Texas — The most popular address on Cedar Ridge Drive is Jim Trulock's split-level home, which has a group sex room and attracts as many as 100 people to swinger parties featuring "Naked Twister" nights.

But the festivities could soon be over. In response to neighbors' complaints, the city has outlawed sex clubs in residential areas. Citations have been issued, and search warrants may be next.

"It's crazy that they want to force their morality down our throats," said Dawn Burton, 45, a regular guest at the parties. "We're all frustrated."

9. Seems like they're unfairly using zoning laws
to decide what consenting adults can do in their own homes. :eyes:

10. i'd imagine 100 cars parked on a residental street is a teensy-bit annoying to the neighbors

13. true, but that could occur from someone throwing a large party or family gathering as well
but you don't see zoning laws used to make those illegal.

19. it's the frequency...if someone had big family parties every week or so
with 100 cars, that would piss me off.

15. OKay the cars are a nuisance
They should have arranged something to alleviate that. Buses or whatnot

But 100 cars on the street may not be attributed to sex parties in all cases

17. So if someone has a big family
and a hundred cars are parked nearby for say, a Baptism or something, we could outlaw that too? Seems to me then that the ban would then have to entail enforcement of the number of people a household could invite to any party if that's the argument to make it fair.

18. from what i gathered from the article, it was a pretty regular thing
a one-time gathering i could understand, but a couple of times a month (or once a week, maybe) would just piss me off

22. So you'd support the town's ban
if they limited the parties to maybe 4 times a year or less? I guess I think unless people are violating traffic, parking, or noise laws which would already be enforceable if there were problems, it pretty much isn't anyone's business.

21. Well, it sounds like the zoning is pretty explicit
"No sex clubs in residential areas." Doesn't say anything about number of cars. Now it all depends on the definition of "sex club."

I have nothing against any kind of sex between consenting adults. Sure beats listening to the neighbor beat his wife. But I might not be happy as a neighbor if there was a lot of traffic in and out (no pun intended), noise or drunk people wandering about.

24. If no one's making a profit,
it probably couldn't consitute being a club though. Not anymore than a neighborhood block party with a potluck dinner could constitute a restaurant. It seems like people are contributing small amounts to help offset the cost, but no one's profiting. I agree, it's a fine line. Just playing Devil's Advocate I suppose.

26. Well, once again, it would depend on how they defined it
I mean, you can have a social club that makes no profit.

This is why I'm glad to live in the mountains where I have no close neighbors. It sucks to live near other people - there are always petty controversies.

27. How exactly do they define a 'sex party'?
Next thing you know they'll find an excuse to arrest a couple for having sex in their own home just because they can all it a 'sex party' under some vague and ridiculous law.
