says "fuck you" to you, what do you do? Me? My heart is broken. I don't talk like that, never did. It is too hateful...I am so damned hurt!

5. Where I come from, you can say "fuck you!" to someone you love and it's not a deal-breaker. |
|
You can be totally exasperated and not want to see them for a week but it doesn't mean you're through. You have the =right= to be totally exasperated with someone you love, and to fully express it (as is healthy).
If they love you, they'll tell you what's wrong from their POV. Good luck.

6. OMG. I went through that with my EX. I'm so sorry you've having to deal with that. |
|
There were a host of other issues, but being spoken to like that was one of the big ones. Something broke for me (in the relationship) the day he called me a "fucking cunt" with no provocation whatsoever.
I'm so sorry, and I know from experience how much that hurts.
I hope it's just a one-time thing for you; it wasn't for me. Just remember that you don't deserve to be spoken to that way--no one does, and don't tolerate it.

and I appreciate your response. NO, this was not the first time. There is a lot of history; however, I know I do NOT deserve to be spoken to this way. I am so very sad! AND, I am too old for this bs! I'd rather be alone.

9. I don't know what I would do, I'm so sorry that happened to you... |
|
I just don't understand why someone could be so hateful to someone they are supposed to care about.

exactly. I am stunned; however, I must say, it is not the first time. After THAT one, I said if it was ever said again, we were DONE, as in D-O-N-E! I'd rather be alone...really.
 Thank you so very much for the response/support!

13. Its a matter of respect... |
|
Respect for yourself and their respect for you. No one in their right mind should hurt you in that manner. To say such a hateful thing only to hurt you is atrocious. I won't say you should follow my advice, however, being an ass myself, I'll offer some anyways. It should be done and over with, it will hurt for a while, but any type of relationship that causes you only pain isn't worth keeping.

11. I said that one time to my wife, in 1978 when we'd been married 10 months. |
|
I'll never say that to her again.

14. Just remember that some people view those words casually, |
|
while others take them much more seriously.
Me, I take them seriously. But I know that some more volatile types don't, and I take that into consideration whenever someone finds the need to be vulgar.
I'm sorry this happened, and that you're feeling hurt.

15. But many don't. I think the point is... |
|
that 'fuck' as where is my fuckin' screwdriver is different than "fuck you." Recognizing that there are a myriad of responses out there, I learned from my wife that simple courtesy trumps.

20. You showed the yellow card the first time. |
|
This foul gets the RED CARD. Go to the bench. NOW. I swear, I will NEVER understand why people close to us treat us in a way they would NEVER treat a stranger. My answer has alway been, NO. If you insist on speaking to me with such words and in that tone, you will NOT speak to me at all. I don't want anyone close to me who disrespects me. There are many ways to handle conflict. Obscenities in the face is NOT one of them.

18. I used to be a very angry person, many years ago |
|
and if I got really mad I would talk like that. I don't think I could do it now. I'm just too aware of how much harm that can cause. :(
I'm sorry someone did that to you. I hope he/she was just momentarily mad and didn't really mean it. I hope you get an apology.
