Help choosing a coffee grinder?
It's a gift, and I want to buy a nice one. I don't drink coffee nor have I ever ground coffee beans, so I am totally clueless (but only in regards to this, I know everything else about everything else).

Brand? Features? What should I look for?

Thanks!

2. My husband bought me a Krups one last year for Christmas, i already had another
one that was a different brand but the one bought for me works much better. It's just a basic coffee grinder by Krups that was about $40?

"I don't drink coffee nor have I ever ground coffee beans" :nuke:

Krupps makes the best coffee accessories, in my less than humble opinion.

11. Guess this means YOU aren't getting a coffee grinder for Christmas.
I don't like the taste, and my ephedra stash keeps me boosted.

Sorry, love.

Way to blow it, Hitler.

6. Krups makes a very good one and the brand is reliable.
Edited on Tue Dec-11-07 09:10 PM by Gormy Cuss
The best coffee grinders have a burr grinder and they're sometimes referred to as coffee mills because that's what the machine does - it mills the beans between two plates. The cheapest ones have blades and those work, but it's hard to get the precise grinding offered by the burr grinders. People who are very particular about their coffee beans tend to prefer burr grinders.
here are some pix of Krups grinders. The one on the far right is a blade grinder, the other two are burr grinders. I have the middle one and it works great.

22. Thank you, Gormy Cuss.
I had no idea about the "burr grinder" difference.

Krups owes you a solid.

26. Another vote for Krups
I've had one for over 10 years with no issues. Simple and quiet.

I would get a coffee brush to go with it. Brushing out those last bits keeps you from getting rancid beans into your brew. :hi:

27. I'd say get a burr grinder
I love mine and I think it does the best job of preparing the bean for brewing.
