Happy 4th Annivesary to Abbott, my beloved cat!!!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=524965

It was 4 years ago today that a Grey & White stray stumbled into my life. Some asshole I guess moved away and decided they didn't have room to take their family pet along so they tossed the cat out into the garbage. It was pouring down rain that night when I got home from work and this cat was rooting through the garbage. There were many other stray cats around our apartment complex but most of them would run as soon as you got near them - they were feral from birth.

But not this guy. He came running up to me - cold, hungry and awfully wet. I ran inside and got him some tuna & cheese to feed him and he was just so scared & shaking that I figured perhaps someone lost their pet cat and I should bring him inside to keep warm until we could find his owners.

Four years later that cat has not left my life. No one claimed him. So after 2 weeks of listening to an unfixed male cat howl his brains out for all the female pussy he could smell (those outdoor feral cats), I had Abbott fixed and left him to stay in my life.

Abbott was named Abbie Hoffman (I was reading Hoffman's Biography at the time). But the cat was such a fricking nerd that he ended up being Abbott.

And since no cat thread can be complete without pictures - here is the putty kat love of my life:

(that's him with my other cat that I got about 5 months later - Evita)

6. congratulations to Abbott! I remember your original
threads about him - wondering if you should keep him, not having had a cat before (or not recently, right?). Time flies - can't believe it was 4 years ago!

All cats should have such happy lives as Abbott and Evita!

7. My prior apartment I took care of a cat that was mainly outdoors
I was not allowed pets and the cat was a stray that lived around the building. I took the time to get her fixed and shots plus a few times it was really cold one of us would let her inside to keep warm.

10. I love your Abbot, because he
looks so much like my Silver and Grey! He could be their brother. And because he's got character in his face that says he knows he's well loved and cared for. And because I love cats that have been rescued or taken in.

:loveya:

11. Here's another reason why Abbott is so special to me....
he was found on 12/12 - which happens to be the birthday of my father (he passed away back in the early 80s from Lung Cancer).

I almost feel Abbott was a gift sent to me from him! We're such a perfect match!

12. What an expressive face!
Some cats can be really poker-faced, but I'll bet you know EXACTLY what Abbot is saying to you.
Looks like he and Evita get along well, too...close together, relaxed body language.
