And with the way you look I understand
that you are not impressed.
But I heard you let that little friend of mine
take off your party dress.
I'm not going to get too sentimental
like those other sticky valentines,
'cause I don't know if you've been loving somebody.
I only know it isn't mine.
Alison, I know this world is killing you.
Oh, Alison, my aim is true.

Well I see you've got a husband now.
Did he leave your pretty fingers lying
in the wedding cake?
You used to hold him right in your hand.
I'll bet he took all he could take.
Sometimes I wish that I could stop you from talking
when I hear the silly things that you say.
I think somebody better put out the big light,
cause I can't stand to see you this way.

Alison, I know this world is killing you.
Oh, Alison, my aim is true.
My aim is true.
My aim is true.
My aim is true."

-Elvis Costello

1. She floats like a swan

Grace on the water
Lips like sugar
Lips like sugar
Just when you think you've caught her
She glides across the water
She calls for you tonight
To share this moonlight

You'll flow her river
She'll ask & you'll give her...
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses

She knows what you know
I know what she's thinking
Sugar kisses, sugar kisses
Just when you think she's yours
She's flown to other shores
To laugh at how you break
And melt into this lake

You'll flow down her river
But you'll never give her...
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses

She'll be my mirror
Reflect what I am
Loose women
The king of Siam
And my siamese twin
Alone in the river
Mirror kisses, mirror kisses...

Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses
Lips like sugar
Sugar kisses.....

7. Some day, when I'm awfully low,
Some day, when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
And the way you look tonight.

Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.

With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fear apart...
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
It touches my foolish heart.

Lovely ... Never, ever change.
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it ?
'Cause I love you ... Just the way you look tonight.

Mm, Mm, Mm, Mm,
Just the way you look to-night.

( Some day, when I'm awfully low, you'll post something that cheers me up, so for tonight, I'll flirt shamelessly, and try to do the same for you. :) )

9. AW, geeze. That's a good one. It reminds me of
"Hannah and her Sisters", a movie I love. I KNOW it's a classic song, but dammit, there were some great scenes in that movie. I'll flirt back, too, hon. I've actually been kind of maudlin about someone I miss. He treated me like "Alison". I was behaving wretchedly. But he was kind.

Some guy, you are kind too. That matters. :*

10. If I should write a book for you
Edited on Fri Dec-14-07 11:29 PM by some guy
That brought me fame and fortune too
That book would be like my heart and me
Dedicated to you.
And, if I should paint a picture too
That showed the loveliness of you
My art would be, like my heart and me,
Dedicated to you.
To you, because your love is the beacon that lights up my way.
To you because with you I know one lifetime could be just one heavenly place.
If I should find a twinkling star
One half so wonderous as you are.
That star would be, like my heart and me,
Dedicated to you.
To you, because your love is a beacon that lights up my way
To you because with you I know one lifetime could be just one heavenly place
If I should find a twinkling star
One half so wonderous as you are
That star would be like my heart and me
Dedicated to you.

( I couldn't find the John Coltrane version, but this one is good )

I'm sorry you're feeling maudlin. I'm gonna get all sentimental, and sticky valentiney... :D

I vaguely remember Hannah & Her Sisters. I did see it when it was at the theaters, but I haven't seen it since.

:D :P

Thanks for that, too. "sticky valentiney" made me *lol*. You have no idea.

If you saw my housekeeping (among other things), darling, you'd run screaming, beacon that lights up your way or no. :D People are just like that sometimes.

13. I was thinking I'd get a maid...
My life is changing
in so many ways
I don't know who
to trust anymore
There's a shadow running
thru my days
Like a beggar going
from door to door.

I was thinking that
maybe I'd get a maid
Find a place nearby
for her to stay.
Just someone
to keep my house clean,
Fix my meals and go away.

A maid. A man needs a maid.
A maid.

It's hard to make that change
When life and love
turns strange.
And old.

To give a love,
you gotta live a love.
To live a love,
you gotta be "part of"
When will I see you again?

A while ago somewhere
I don't know when
I was watching
a movie with a friend.
I fell in love with the actress.
She was playing a part
that I could understand.

A maid. A man needs a maid.
A maid.

When will I see you again?

Bad housekeeper, are you? Meh, most every problem has a soultion, no? :P

( I'll stop posting youtube links, since I see you can't access them.)

No, I don't think we've met. I've seen a picture of you. I'm pretty sure I'd remember being dazzled.

8. It's a clip from Elvis' first ever TV appearance
Just him and his beat up guitar singing "Alison" on a chewed up old video tape, but it's a great performance.

14. Here are some lyrics for you, Sugar Smack:
The Head And The Heart by Chris De Burgh

Let us talk no more, let us go to sleep,
Let the rain fall on the window pane,
And fill the castle keep,
I am weary now, weary to my bones,
Weary from the travelling,
And the endless country roads,
That brought us here tonight, for this weekend,
And a chance to work it out,
For we cannot live together, and we cannot live apart,
It's the classical dilemma between the head and the heart;

She is sleeping now, softly in the night,
And in my heart of darkness she has been the only light,
I am lost in love, looking at her face,
And still I hear the voice of reason,
Telling me to chase these dreams away,
Oh here we go again, we're divided from the start,
For we cannot live together, and we cannot live apart,
It's the classical dilemma between the head and the heart,
The head and the heart;

Now the dawn begins, and still I cannot sleep,
My head is spinning round but now the way is clear to me,
There is nothing left, nothing left to show,
The jury and the judge will see, it's time to let her go,
Now hear the heart:
I believe that time will show,
She will always be a part of my world,
I don't want to see her go;
So I plead my case to hear the heart,
And stay...
It's time to let her go - I don't want to let her go...
It's time to let her go - I don't want to let her go...
It's time to let her go...
And in this classical dilemma,
I find for - the heart.

What you can't hear just with the lyrics is the achingly beautiful piano track for this song...

Hi :hi: gorgeous!

15. OMG, it's you.
I feel like I could write country music tonight. I just talked with cousin Redstone over the phone, which was super. But I posted and that was my undoing. It's so good to see you, hon. It always is. I should go to bed soon. You know, save myself from further posting. Meanwhile:

"You could be my silver springs
Blue green colors flashing
I would be your only dream
Your shining autumn, ocean crashing
And did you say she was pretty
And did you say that she loves you
Baby, I dont wanna know

I'll begin not to love you
Turn around, see me running
Ill say I loved you years ago
Tell myself you never loved me, no
And did you say she was pretty
And did you say that she loves you
Baby, I dont wanna know
Oh, no
And can you tell me was it worth it
Really, I dont wanna know

Time casts a spell on you, but you won't forget me
I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me

Instrument solo

Time casts a spell on you, but you wont forget me
I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me
Ill follow you down til the sound of my voice will haunt you, was I such a fool?
Youll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you
(3x)

You could be my silver springs
My blue green colors flashing"

-Fleetwood Mac:loveya:
