Moms super secret Stew recipe |
|
(well maybe not so secret)
2 lbs stew beef browned and cut to bite size pieces mom dipped her stew meat in flour before browning 2 tbs. crisco.. (to brown beef) 1 clove of garlic (to brown beef in)
1 or 2 cans of stewed tomatoes 3 cups of boiling water 1 Tbs. lemon juice 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp of paprika 1 medium onion sliced 2 bay leaves 1 tsp salt dash of allspice put this all in a huge pot and simmer for 2 hours... adding water if needed.
then add the first three veggies for about 1/2 hour at a simmer all veggies are cut to bite sized these are all portioned to your liking potatoes onions (you can use little onions or cut up big ones) turnips
these two add the last half hour celery carrots make dumplings the last 1/2 hour also
this recipe can be doubled, tripled etc.....
Bisquick dumplings are the best....
Whats an old or secret family recipe from your house!!??
