Poll question: Do you leave the TV on for your pets?
I did some door-to-door today (collecting signatures for my SO, who is running for county board here) and a crazy number of people had TV's on visible from the front windows--I'd ring the bell, dogs would bark like crazy, but nobody came to the door. Some of that, sure, is due to not wanting to answer the doorbell for a stranger/in the bathroom/etc....but it seems most of them just left the TV on for their dogs.

I don't have a dog, and the cat and birds don't care one way or the other about the TV...so maybe this is more common than I'd think. But anyway...

It's not like I'm keeping him from Keith Olbermann or not letting him finish that novel.

3. No. I have four pets. If they can't find a way to amuse themselves,
they're not really trying.

4. Sometimes I do. I always leave the clock radio to go off at the
regular time. I do it as much for the pets as I do in an attempt to fool the burglars.

7. I used to leave the radio on for my cat, Miss Patty
...but when my mom died last year, I pretty much gave her to my dad to keep him distracted. She now lives in the palace, with a minion who spoils her far more than I ever did! My dad leaves the heat on sometimes when she's sleeping on the floor grate! I keep telling him she's got her own fur coat, but he's a Jewish father, he can't help himself!

Anyway, she eats it up. Whenever she's left with me, she sulks and gives me "the look" that should strike me dead. But I don't fall for it. I'm only half-Jewish, no feline can guilt me out!!

10. No. They are intelligent creatures. Why dumb them down, even the dust mites?
