OK ladies. Why does HE always end up doing all the shoveling?

to fellow New Englanders in this nor'easter.

I know some of you may do your own snow shoveling - but honestly, those of us with hubbies/boyfriends - face it your sitting here, or doing other stuff while he's out there in this gawdddamn blizzard cleaning off the cars and shoveling out.

So, there really is no reason you can't get out there and help!

'But I don't have, you know the right boots and stuff' I can hear you whining now.

So wear his- he must have something like this somewhere:



put on extra socks and they'll work fine.

So with that said, I'm going out there in the sideways snow and keep him from having a heart attack or straining something.

right after my hair dries and I finish this cup of coffee and..oh yeah the laundry.........

I _always_ do it ever since I saw CMW's method. I shovel quickly and tidily and it's DONE. CMW is some sort of shoveling-by-vibe guy: while shoveling, he observes the landscape, chats with the neighbors, plays with the cats and makes abstract snow sculptures. I just shovel. :rofl:

I've never shirked shoveling - it was always a team effort (when there was a man around) and usually it was a solo woman effort.

So even though I am not at the point yet that I need to severely restrict my activities, he has been doing everything that could be considered strenuous by his choice.
I have helped out with shoveling in the past, but if only one of us could do it at a time, he is the better candidate because he weighs twice as much as me, can lift 4 times as much as me, and is more cold resistent.

11. I usually do all the shoveling

Despite having a male in his early 30s in the other half of the duplex where I live because I tend to get up earlier and just want it done even though it's his driveway too.

But, we have nine inches on the ground right now with more on the way, and I'm being lazy this morning. He's out there shoveling right now. I don't feel guilty especially since it'll have to be done again later this afternoon anyway.

12. Are you using some literary technique that I don't understand? Cuz HE does NOT

do the shoveling in our partnership. HE (CMW) keeps The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger and the other five cats (my mother-in-law's and my sister-in-law's) out of the way while _I_ do the shoveling for both our household and my mother-in-law. I've considerd CMW's cat-guarding contribution extremely valuable since the winter three years ago when I very nearly buried my mother-in-law's certifiably neurotic cat, Bünz. :scared:

Never had the situation you described. Even my father had the good sense to enlist the help of the kids. When I rented in snow country I shoveled the front of the duplex before the landlord got around to it most of the time.

my husband rarely if ever does any shoveling. Had a heart attack about 10 years ago, and doc told him "no shoveling". Before that he used the excuse that he had to leave the house too early in the morning and didn't have time to shovel. I'm in my late 40s and have done it myself for at least 15 years. Finally bought a used snow blower, and had it all tuned up for this winter. He used it on Thursday, and managed to lose one of the knobs that tightens the handle into place, so it's sitting in the garage completely useless while I spent the last 90 minutes in the freezing sleet making no progress on the crusty crap out there.

19. my husband rarely shoveled.

I actually kind of enjoyed doing it, so long as I could take my time. Only had to do it about once a year, though, so it's not as if I had a chance to get sick of the chore.

We lived on a mountain in Virginia and were stuck for about 7 days once -- our community was NOT on the top of the snow-plow list; our roads were so steep they hoped it would melt first. When it didn't, they sent in a bulldozer for the first round so the plows could get through. The 'dozer almost slid off the mountain roads.
