Oh gawd... have you ever COMPLETELY FLUNKED an exam? |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 11:04 PM by Lirwin2
I'm about to...
I haven't felt this hopeless before an exam since my high school calculus days...

1. Well everyone else might be clueless too |
|
and the professor will decide to grade on a curve instead of flunking everybody. You never know. I know that doesn't sound too positive, but that's how I managed to pass calculus. I actually got a 'B' in that course and I know I wouldn't have passed it if the professor had done standard grading.

2. 18/100 once. Also in stats. |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 11:11 PM by ih8thegop
There, I have let it out in the open for public consumption.
I wish I was joking, but I'm not. 18/100. The test focused on chi square and other stats.
I retook the class and did better.

8. The worst part about exams like that is... |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 11:13 PM by Lirwin2
When you're sitting in the room, you have NO IDEA what you're doing, and you see your fellow classmates writing quickly, as though they know exactly what they're doing. It's extra discouraging.

18. I got that beat. 4/100 once. |
|
And I still ended up passing the class with a B. But it was an algebra test and I hadn't studied for shit. Not exactly a shining moment in my academic history.

3. *hugs* Hey, you never know. I went into a few thinking I would bomb but the |
|
prof would set it up as: write a full booklet on one question, half and half on 2 questions, or 3 equal parts on A, B, & C.
I would look at the three questions and have no clue about two of them, but BSd my way through the one I kinda sorta knew. Got As too!

I usually find that when I'm totally sure I'm going to flunk something, it ends up being much better than I expected. I was nervous as hell about one recently and I found I was actually far more prepared than I thought it was.
Good luck. :hi:

Normally I wouldn't have a problem with a course like this, except that the prof loves to ramble. I'm reading over my notes, and I'm sure that what I wrote probably made sense to me at the time, but right now I'm like :wtf:

With the added bonus of not being able to read my own writing. I now take the time to type them up but sometimes I'm still not sure what the hell I meant. :P

With both papers and exams. And sometimes the final end-of-the-semester grade would come out much better than I expected.

13. I got a deserved "f" on a quarterly paper once. |
|
I didn't try and it showed. I pulled my shit together and did well for the rest of the class. Hope it turns out okay!

14. Oh yes, my minor exam in graduate school |
|
I completely blanked out and didn't know the most elementary things.
Fortunately, my professors realized that I had just had a bad day, so they let me atone for it by writing a long paper on the topic.

Partnership Taxation. Law school. There was a LOT of computation on the exam and, well, math and I do NOT get along. I kept getting an answer that was millions of dollars in the negative--which wasn't possible, had I done it right.
I actually walked out of the exam laughing. I knew I royally fucked up.
Turns out, most of my classmates did too. Since it was law school, everything was graded on a bell curve. That exam was 100% of the grade in the class. I ended up with a B.

16. I stayed home from an electronics exam that was over my head |
|
It turned out the professor realized it was over every one's head - so he gave everyone who showed up an "A" for writing their name at the top of the paper. Oh well.

17. Yup. Was in college, and luckily there were three exams... |
|
I studied really hard for the first one, and flunked it. Got a 40/100. Then didn't study at all for the second one, and got the same grade. So I dropped the class. I didn't need the class to graduate. I still have no idea why I couldn't 'get' any of it. Was an accounting class; I'd gone through a year of college level calculus with a B average, but accounting just f*cked with my brain.
