Okay I work with this fellow who travels a lot for business and because he is out of town a lot he rented out a room in his house because it helped pay the mortgage and he had a built in house-sitter.
However it gets really weird. He never got too involved in his roommate's affairs until recently when he had to go into his room to repair something.... lo and behold the guy had kiddie porn all over the place.
Meanwhile this guy had been offering his services to a church nursery and had been trying to get into Big Brother and Sisters.
So my coworker called the police because he was concerned. The police got a search warrant came to the house and seized all the stuff for analysis. He also kicked the guy out...
Personally I think he did the right thing.

I believe just owning it is illegal.
UNLESS... he was manipulating other pictures to make "fake" child porn. That, if I recall, was overturned by the courts.

and he has moved somewhere else now. I would assume that the police know where he is but what worries me is that he is applying for volunteering jobs to work with kids....with no arrest yet there is no way to make sure that he isn't getting access to kids. It is just so upsetting to me...

8. Of course he did the right thing! |

Especially since he was trying to work at a nursery and Big Brother. Years ago, we knew of a guy who was a 'Big Brother' and molested the boys he worked with. He wound up going to prison. People like this are sick and shouldn't be around kids at all!

10. No, they shouldn't be around kids, but prison isn't necessarily the |
|
place for them either... this country needs to take all health issues, including mental health issues, seriously and provide some real, legitimate care. These people are sick, but getting pounded every night in prison isn't going to help... I know you weren't advocating prison over treatment, but it's just so frustrating to see how our system makes things worse, cuz when that guy gets out of prison, he's going to be angry AND sick!
