Man Claims Skin Treatment Turned Face Permanent Blue

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,317564,00.html

Paul Karason puts a whole new spin on "feeling blue.” For more than a decade, the 57-year-old has been living with a blue face.

Fourteen years ago, Karason developed a bad case of dermatitis, which results in swollen, reddened and itchy skin. He started self-medicating, using a treatment called colloidal silver, which is made by extracting silver from metal.

Often touted by manufacturers as a cure-all, colloidal silver usually is found in a liquid form. Looking for relief, Karason drank the concoction and rubbed it on his skin — something the U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not recommend.

His skin slowly turned blue.

4. I saw a woman on tv who consumed colloidal silver, whose skin turned gray.
She said that having gray skin impacts one's social life.
I could see that.

5. It turns bright blue
if you spend time in the sun the silver oxidizes so you get a really blue tan. I would think that would be preferrable to being gray, all things considered.

True-blue bids for Senate

Jones is aiming to be America's first blue senator

A US Senate hopeful in the state of Montana has a bad case of the blues after years of drinking a home-made silver solution for medical reasons.

Libertarian candidate Stan Jones, 63, first discovered his skin was turning blue last year.

He began taking colloidal silver in 1999 amid fears that disruptions caused by the millennium bug might lead to a shortage of antibiotics.

His condition, known as argyria, is not serious.

Yes, there is a similar condition due to ingesting colloidal gold: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysiasis

14. Talk about morans...
Despite absolutely NO evidence drinking this stuff (silver in water) does anything except turn people blue, they still drink it.

Like I said.

Morans.
