Here is a film that doesn't insult your intelligence, is flat out gorgeous to look at, well acted, beautifully written. A totally stunning work. The ending will leave you stunned, in fact, so I won't reveal it.

Go and see it for yourself. You have a treat in store for you.

2. I hope that Keira Knightley does a better job than in her previous movies.
That woman acts with her TEETH.

4. I haven't seen her in anything else but I thought she was just right in this one.
There is incredibly good acting in this movie. It received several Golden Globes and will probably get LOTS of Oscar noms.

3. My dear CTyankee...
I plan to see it...on DVD!

I want to read the book first, though...

Both movie and book are supposed to be wonderful!

I cannot wait!

:hi:

6. Oh, CA Peggy, see it in a movie theater if possible!
The cinematography is just outstanding and may get an Oscar. Just for the scene at Dunkirk, which is so moving and shattering at the same time...

Also, I can'thelp but mention the fabulous costuming and set design. This is the kind of work that artists do.

5. I hope it's better than the book.
I'm probably the only one to dislike the book. I found it nearly unreadable. Lame story and lousy writing style and the middle of the book really made no sense whatsoever.
I'll, maybe, catch the movie on cable next year.

7. You aren't alone!
I thought maybe "I just didn't get it" but I could barely finish it. I didn't *want* to finish it, and that's very rare for me, even when reading something I'm not wild about. But it was our book club selection, and most of the other people loved it. After all the hub-bub, I think I may give it another try.

8. I thought the book was excellent, but I don't see how the "twist" ending could translate to film.
I mean, how do you simulate the abrupt shift in the reader's perspective, using the medium of film?

10. I haven't read the book but there are abrupt shifts through out the film up til the end.
So the viewer is used to them at that point. It is part of the artfulness of the film. As I understand it, the filmmaker has taken the shell of a book and filled it out with its characters and historic setting beautifully. It is a finished and lovely product of art at the end. You will love it for what it is, not for what the book was.

9. It's So Great to See James McAvoy Getting Recognition
I've been a fan since the Sci-Fi net movie Children of Dune.
