Don't you just L-O-V-E Ikea?
I was SO EXCITED when my "adopted" siblings told me I could pick out a bed there for my birthday. We three navigated their maze, along the way A. found a plush toy which he HAD TO HAVE, named her PAULINA. We get to the bedroom furniture, giggling and behaving like well... siblings, sniping and whining at each other. Paulina did most of A.'s talking to the staff who were thoroughly amused and entertained by our antics.

I found THE PERFECT PLATFORM BED!!! It has a shelf and Schreibtisch underneath under which I have room for TWO sets of drawers! HALLELUJAH!!! This unit is the beginning of a NEW FLAT ORDER! Visions of taming the chaos danced in my head! The cardboard box with my sox is HISTROY! O JOY! O RAPTURE! THEN I can free the space taken up by THIS, move it THERE, put the music stuff now occupied by this, THERE and THEN... You get the picture.

Ikea was to deliver sometime after 11 a.m. Thursday. I got home at 10:15 to find 3 heavy boxes stacked in front of my door. So I had to MOVE THEM to get in. I dragged them inside with all the strength my 5-foot 100 lb. frame could muster. Two boxes fit in the foyer but the third and heaviest I dragged into the bedroom. Of course, IT blocked my access to the shelves upon which my everyday clothing sits but never mind. JOB ONE, ASSEMBLE IT!

Being a patient soul, it was clear that the weeks before the grand orgy of Peace on Earth would be difficult. I had to work. My young beefy boy-friends had to work. However, I was determined to get the thing up before next week as then I have lots of UNPAID TIME to re-organize my existence. S.&E. said we could get it done.

After my rehearsal today, I reached S. at his rehearsal. "I'll be there at 7!" Couldn't get E. on the phone at 5:30 but my spidey sense said he was in his practice room. I PRIED him and R. out of there (THAT took an HOUR). They unpacked the boxes and E. checked to make sure all the parts were there. Just as he discovered THEY WEREN'T, S. rang the doorbell with 2 band members in tow.

So there I was with 5 guys (2 keyboarders, 1 balalaika, 1 oud and 1 drummer) who could have put the shit together in 10 MINUTES PLUS brought up the drawers from the basement and FUCKING IKEA DIDN'T SEND ALL THE PARTS. Notable upon the missing were THE FUCKING POSTS THE BED RESTS ON.

Guess what! No adrenaline, no tilting at windmills, it's ALL FINE. Just poured myself a Paulaner. I'll tell Paulina what happened and am sure she'll get it all put to right! HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ONE AND ALL!!! :silly:

1. Ikea seems to fuck it up about half the time.
But they're good at putting it right. Congrats on your new bed!

3. Thanx! The tiny problem I have
is that THIS WEEK I have time off. Monday-Wednesday are HOLIDAYS! Maybe Paulina can rag on them Monday (before noon) and they deliver Thursday...

What the Hell am I complaining about??? An inconvenience? NOBODY IS DROPPING BOMBS on MY head! I'm not force to cover myself up in black fabric. :toast:

That realized I WISH that corporations would be held as accountable as consumers (formally know as citizens) are. You miss a payment, THEY charge a fee. They FUCK UP and it's no skin off their noses.
