Encounter in the war on Christmas |
|
I dug myself out of books for a moment to get milk and to see the light of day before it was gone and so I went into this store and this man behind the counter was very loudly wishing everyone Merry Christmas! Have a Good Christmas!
And it was so sad to me to think that before the right wing fucktards had tried to make a political issue out of the very same holiday that is supposed to be about peace on earth I had actually not cared one bit if someone wished me Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays or simply Thank You. But now the blowhards who have to have something to bitch about made me feel...unhappy that the man said this because then I wondered if he was someone who listened to rightwing fucktards or if he was just being nice and just had a loud voice and, really, do these assholes who live to create hatred toward liberals have no sense of shame, or no real belief in anything good, or anything that should not be used as political grease for...well, you know what for.
Has that happened to anyone else? It was strange. Maybe I just hit bottom as a scrooge this year?

1. Yup, it's you. Rush Limbaugh was not selling you a quart of milk. |

2. I'd just chalk it up to a loud guy in a good mood. |

3. I didn't run into any of that until last night. |

Usually, I don't care one way or the other. If I know the people, and know that like me, they celebrate Christmas, I wish them a Merry Christmas. Or, I say it back to them if they say it to me first. Otherwise, it is Happy Holidays.
Last night, I went to the grocery store with my husband. I was in a small neighborhood store. Before we checked out, I heard the two checkers squabbling. The angry clerk was telling the other clerk that everyone should be wished a Merry Christmas, because it is a Christian holiday, and no one had a right to deny it. The other clerk said, "Maybe they don't celebrate Christmas."
As we left, I wished both clerks Happy Holidays, quite loudly.
I really don't care one way or another about this silly fight. I just felt like taking a jab at the angry clerk.

really, is that I am now aware of this... who knows who that guy was ...but because of O'Reilly, etc. I actually had the thought. which is sick because of the way the right wing talking heads have made even this holiday some sort of belligerent moment for the right wing.
