Do you think about food all the time? |
|
My SO does. He starts planning meals days or even weeks in advance. Just now he told me that he sometimes feels like apologizing because he's constantly asking me if I want this side dish with next Tuesday's meal or if this recipe sounds good and I just don't care. I can't be bothered to expend that kind of energy thinking about food. Put it in front of me, I'll eat it.
I'm glad he loves to cook and I'm glad he wants to prepare delicious meals - I'm just not like that. So, do you live to eat or do you eat to live?

But, I still take great enjoyment in cooking for myself and for others, and appreciate the taste and fulfillment of a good meal.

2. Maybe your SO and I should talk. |
|
I drive my SO crazy because I do menu planning for a week or more at time and try to engage him in the plan. He generally cooks on the weekend and doesn't know on Friday what he'll be making on Saturday, LOL.

Not knowing on Friday what he'll be making on Saturday, I mean. When I cook, I generally don't know what I'm making until I make it. The main dish will be "whatever I pull out of the freezer and can thaw in time."

3. Those of us who are "into it" plan ahead and discuss |
|
meals, recipes and ingredients with others who may be interested.
Wouldn't you want to know what happened if the quality of the vittles went south?

5. I wouldn't even notice |
|
Before I met him, I lived on oatmeal and tortillas. And an occasional can of tuna. I barely notice what the food I'm eating tastes like.

6. Hmmm...interesting question.... |
|
I would say (prime rib) that I (lobster) do not think about food (chicken wings) any more than the average individual (Boston Cream Pie)....

And I'm sure everyone can tell. It's a social thing to me, and I don't understand people who can eat just to eat. I want to indulge in my meal, savore it.

One of my new medications has the unpleasant side effect of totally fscking up the appetite receptors in my brain. I feel hungry almost all of the time, even after I've had a big meal. I've gained over ten pounds in the last month, even though I've stepped up my activity level.
It feels like I'm at war with food-- and food is winning.

9. I'm always trying to plan ahead |
|
and make the most use of what we have 'in stock' in interesting ways.
For example I cooked up some duck breasts for our Humanlight dinner (a secular humanist holiday) today. I have some left over, some duck broth (from steaming them), left over rice, and some left over peas from the other day.
Guess we're having duck soup sometime next week! ;)

I don't care at all about food and don't think about it until I am hungry
